Research Associate - Strain Development and Bioprocess

Main Functions

The Research Associate will join a team involved in genetically engineering yeast for the production of value-added molecules and will report to a research scientist. The selected individual will apply molecular biology, biochemistry, and fermentation science skills to engineer yeast, evaluate associated genotypes and phenotypes, as well as provide documentation of the process and results. The candidate will perform this research in support of company goals and priorities in conjunction with their manager and other team members and will assist in solving research problems.Research topics include heterologous protein expression and characterization, classical genetics, fermentation, and method development of relevant screens and selections for specific applications.Tasks associated with this position also include:Designing molecular constructs, cloning, and transformations;Carrying out strain screening and molecule activity assays;Small scale fermentations;Documenting experimental procedures and results.Technical Skills

RequiredExperience with yeast, bacteria, or other cell culture of model organismsAbility to perform standard molecular biology techniques (such as PCR and sterile techniques)Experience with independent data analysis (e.g., Excel or similar software)Personal Abilities
