Our Dean of students assists and supports the Director in providing overall instructional and administrative leadership necessary for increasing academic achievement and assists with student supervision and interventions to students experiencing problems with engagement and behaviors conducive to student success in an online learning environment. Collaborates with the Director to build community through instructional support for teachers, student events/activities, and support for students and parents through the Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) Process.
Primary duties and responsibilities:
Establish and enforce clear standards of conduct for virtual interactions among students.Address student behavioral issues promptly and effectively through virtual communication channels.Collaborate with teachers, parents, and administrators to develop and implement strategies for improving student behavior and engagement in the online learning environment.Organize and facilitate virtual community-building activities and events to promote a sense of belonging among students.Actively engage with students through virtual platforms to address concerns, provide support, and foster positive relationships.Coordinate with the Events Manager to plan and execute virtual and in-person student activities and initiatives that enhance the school community.Help monitor virtual classrooms to ensure student safety and security during online learning sessions.Collaborate with the Director and other administrators to develop and implement emergency response plans for virtual scenarios.Provide support and assistance to students who may be experiencing emotional or behavioral challenges, connecting them with appropriate resources as needed.Communicate effectively with students, parents, teachers, and staff members to address concerns, share updates, and promote a positive school culture.Collaborate with the Student Intervention Team to identify and address the needs of students requiring additional support or intervention.Serve as a liaison between students, parents, and school administration to ensure effective communication and resolution of issues.Conduct conferences with parents, students, and teachers to provide support and address concerns regarding student success.Establishing clear expectations for staff performance with regard to instructional strategies, classroom management, and communication with stakeholders.Supervise and evaluate staff, providing feedback to teachers to improve academic outcomes for students; observe employee performance, recording observations, and conducting evaluation conferences with staff.Coach staff and help them identify and develop appropriate professional goals and identify growth opportunities as well as accomplish improvement goals, recognizing them for efforts and achievements.Direct the development and implementation of collaborative teams within the school’s Professional Learning Community (PLC) frameworkWork collaboratively with departments to ensure alignment among curricula, assessment, instruction, and college-ready benchmarks and assessments;Lead teachers in practices that ensure informed, fair, and effective implementation of grading policies, including vertical and horizontal alignment around grades;Collect, analyze, and respond to student performance data in pursuit of school-wide, grade-level, and course-specific goals;Supervise school-wide testing; collaborate with other members of administration to schedule proctors and provide communication and support regarding state testing to all stakeholdersSupervise and evaluate the performance of designated certified personnel; assign duties to faculty and staff as appropriate to meet school objectives; assists with the recruiting, interviewing, and selection of new faculty and staff.Participate in administrative meetings and training to improve administrative skills; maintain current knowledge of the school’s adopted curriculum.Perform additional duties as assigned by school administration to support the school's overall functioning.School-wide skills, abilities and expectations:

Arizona Principal Certification or currently enrolled in an administrative certification programBachelor’s Degree RequiredArizona K-8 or 6-12 Teacher Certificate RequiredTeaching experience at the middle school level desiredMinimum of five years of exemplary classroom teaching at the middle school level
