Development Director

Position Purpose:
Along with the Chief Advancement Officer, the Director of Development engages in all aspects of TSS's philanthropic revenue strategy; building and promoting a strong culture of philanthropy across the institution and amongst TSS stakeholders and community; and designing and implementing a comprehensive advancement program that effectively builds and maintains relationships to inspire support of Teton Science Schools. This position is responsible for attracting, inspiring, soliciting, stewarding, and retaining donors whose passions align with the TSS mission while leading and managing internal and external administrative and operations processes for fundraising at TSS.
Qualifications/Skills:
Excellent communication skills (writing, proofreading, and speaking) and proficiency with Google products and CMR systems.
Excellent interpersonal skills, particularly relationship building, relationship management, and fundraising moves management skills.
Demonstrated abilities in creating and implementing annual fundraising strategies, systems, and processes.
Self-starting individual with confidence and vision to lead projects from start to finish.
Demonstrated excellence in program leadership, teamwork, and team communication.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office products, Google Apps, and proficiency in CRM management (Salesforce preferred).
Ability to manage and lead multiple projects and work assignments simultaneously and with little supervision.
7+ years of relevant job work experience preferred.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
Ability to perform physical tasks on a daily basis including but not limited to:
Able to write/type/communicate
Able to sit/stand at a desk for up to 8 hours
Primarily based at Jackson Campus of Teton Science Schools with potential meetings/interactions/work on all campus locations.
Responsibilities:Development Operations Management:
Lead development operations including managing trainings, system management, manuals, and database management to leverage Salesforce.
When relevant, support the management of external consultants.
Support oversight of the Development budget.
Manage technological systems and partnerships related to fundraising.
Development Data Management: Manage and maintain Teton Science Schools’ donor database.
Development Administration: Manage the fundraising pacing and calendars including but not limited to prospect development, pipeline management, and moves management accountability across the team.
Development Administration: Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations governing fundraising activities.
Donor Stewardship:
Ensure donor stewardship communication creates meaningful donor touchpoints.
Work with Marketing and Communications team and consultants to develop stewardship projects and highlight programmatic and institutional successes.
Collaborate with the finance team to make finance process stewardship oriented.
Foundations and Grants Management:
Project lead all grant reporting across TSS, in collaboration with staff and contractors.
Actively manage calendar and Salesforce for reporting on grants.
Identify and develop leads for new foundation relationships and grant opportunities.
TSS Donor Relationship and Stakeholder Management:
Create and implement a strategic plan for major gifts through creation, management, evaluation, and implementation of fundraising initiatives.
Manage the major gifts program including timeline/calendar, reporting, and a holistic donor-center approach to stewardship/engagement, and solicitation requirements across funds.
Create, plan, and implement fundraising and stewardship activities including personal meetings and smaller cultivation or stewardship events with a pipeline of major donors.
Events and Campaigns Management:
Oversee the planning and execution of TSS fundraising events with the support of internal and external events staff and volunteers.
One TSS Responsibilities:
Proactively and positively shares the TSS mission and program structure with external stakeholders.
Cross markets TSS programs when opportunities arise.
Contribute to inclusive work and learning environments through continually developing cultural competency. Cultural competence is one’s ability to interact effectively across various dimensions of diversity.
