Occupational Therapist Dover DelawareJob Summary:The ideal candidate will, under general supervision of the contracting health care provider, assess, and provide comprehensive evaluations of assigned patients in order to help patients reach maximum performance level, and use these skills to the fullest to function in the community within the limits of their capabilities.Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Demonstrates proper performance of skills reflected and validated by the Occupational Therapy competency checklist. Administer and write evaluations of assigned patients. Maintain the standards of accurate and complete recording and reporting of patient records as required by law, contracting health care providers policy, and administrative regulations. Completes documentation in a timely and efficient manner. This includes: assessments, reassessments, progress notes, discharge summaries, patient and family education, staffing sheets, and transdisciplinary plan of cares. Participates in and is responsible for Occupational Therapy quality control and quality improvement activities. Maintain standards of patient care by reviewing documentation written by COTAs in the medical record and by demonstrating the knowledge and skills necessary in providing care to the geriatric population. Demonstrates the ability to maintain and appropriate patient caseload, effectively schedules patients treatment sessions, and maintains patients; records and charge. Provide consultation in areas such as environmental design, adaptive equipment, and proper positioning of patient to prevent contractures and splinting. Design and administer treatment programs to increase patients levels of functioning. Use therapeutic exercises and activities to improve or maintain strength, range of motion, and fine-motor coordination. Instruct patients in adapted techniques, use of adaptive equipment for meal preparation, home management, dressing, feeding, and other self-care skills. Train patients in the use of upper-extremity prosthetic devices to resume previous daily routines. Participate in home assessments. Provide therapy for neurological integration, administer sensor-motor integration treatment techniques and visual perceptual-motor remediation programs. Use activities to increase developmental levels of patients. Design and provide individualized therapy for adult learning-disabled patients. Provide activities to assess patients organizational skills, attention spans, cognitive abilities, coordination (fine and gross-motor), and adaptive equipment needs.
