Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock, AR is seeking a MCS Medical Director, who is an Advanced Heart Failure/Transplant trained Cardiologist to join our current clinical leadership team.  Baptist Health is the largest hospital system in the state of Arkansas with twelve hospitals. The flagship hospital in Little Rock is an 850-bed facility.

 

Baptist Health has been a leader in cardiovascular services in Arkansas for almost 50 years. With each advancement in cardiovascular services over this time, Baptist Health has been the first: the first adult heart transplant; the first LVAD; and the first Total Artificial Heart. In 2010 came the creation of the Baptist Health Heart Failure and Transplant Institute. The Institute is Arkansas first center devoted exclusively to advance heart failure, MCS, and transplant. Currently Baptist Health is the only active adult heart-transplant provider in Arkansas. To date, Baptist Health has performed 330 heart transplants and are following over 200 post-transplant patients. As one of the leading and top 5 enrolling centers of the Momentum trial and CAP, we have implanted over 500 patients with a HeartMate II or HeartMate III. We are currently following over 200 VAD patients out in the community. We also operate and support the first and only formal statewide Shock/ECMO program averaging 65+ ECMO cases a year.

 

Baptist Health is seeking to employ an experienced, enthusiastic, dedicated Board Certified Advanced Heart Failure/Transplant Cardiologist. Who has a primary, significant interest in daily clinical management in MCS and cardiac critical care units. There are currently four Cardiologists in the program and the practice is devoted to patient populations of advanced heart failure, MCS, Transplant, and PHTN. Together with the existing physicians, the new provider will receive referrals from cardiologists around the state to this statewide advanced heart failure center. Our program receives over 600 new referrals each year.

 

Baptist Health has the infrastructure and resources in place to make this practice successful. The institute was built in 2010 and has thirteen exam rooms. The total facility space is over 10,000 square feet. The support staff includes 4 VAD nurses, 3 transplant nurses, 6 heart failure nurses, 2 physician assistants, 3 advanced practice nurses, a social worker, a PharmD, a dietician, transplant administrator, financial manager and coordinators, data coordinator with additional clerical support staff. We have Echo, lab, x-ray and cardiopulmonary stress testing in the clinic. We are supported by well experienced clinical research team.

 

The ideal candidate will be a physician with at least 3+ years of experience who is motivated to join a growing and diverse Advanced Heart Failure program, with a desire to help us continue to grow this dynamic program.
