Medical Director - AHG Medical Specialities
Summary
Arkansas Health Group (AHG) employs approximately 700 physicians and advanced practice providers in the Baptist Health System across 12 hospitals and >120 clinical practice groups. The Physician Leadership Team consists of the Chief Medical Officer, Medical Director of Specialties, and Medical Director of Primary Care. The Specialties Medical Director will have oversight of > 80 Baptist Health medical speciality group practices.
The Specialties Medical Director (SMD) must be a physician with board certification in his/her primary discipline and have > 10 years experience in clinical practice and significant experience in an organization leadership or managerial role. A masters degree in business or health administration, or public health is not required but would bring a management acumen to the role. Other background experience in medical informatics, quality improvement and patient safety, population health, or value-based care would also be highly beneficial.
The SMD is an integral member of the AHG management team, responsible for interfacing with participating provider practices, AHG Sr. Leadership & Health System/Hospital Leadership for mission-critical programs and projects in integrated health delivery.
Responsibilities
- The Specialties Medical Director should be a physician with extensive clinical, and significant management and leadership experience. Preferred experience in informatics, quality improvement, and compliance would be highly advantageous and applicable.
- There will be the option to be engaged in clinical activity 5-10% of the time, i.e -1 day of clinic per week or every other week.
- The Specialites Medical DIrector and CMO will share the effort of working with each discipline to develop meaningful and measurable quality goals with the intent of using consistent goals across the system for a given speciality.
- Lead the effort to evaluate each clinic and group for opportunities and needs for growth to add providers and specifically physicians vs. APPs.
- Lead the effort to evaluate the potential need for development of new clinics at new locations.
- Work directly with specific specialty groups on special projects related to program development.
- Participate directly in the AHG Provider Workforce Committee and recruitment process.
- Participate directly in the Provider Onboarding program development process.
- Work directly with Directors of Practice Operations who oversee speciality clinics and groups.
- Attend bimonthly AHG Managers meetings to keep the finger on the pulse of clinic/group management and provide insight as needed.
- Monitor documentation and billing compliance for individual providers.
Requirements
Doctorate degree in Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine
Board Certification in primary discipline
> 10 years practice experience
