Job Description: Superintendent (Heavy Civil Transportation)Location: Washington DCSalary: $150-160k base + attractive benefitsPosition Overview: Hamilton Mayer is assisting the search on behalf of an industry giant in the North American construction market. They are wanting to hire an experienced Superintendent with a strong background in heavy civil transportation projects to join the team in Washington DC. The Superintendent will oversee all aspects of construction operations, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of labor regulations, excellent communication and problem-solving skills, and a broad understanding of the construction industry.Key Responsibilities:Project Management:Plan, coordinate, and manage all activities related to heavy civil transportation projects.Ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, and contractual requirements.Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring timely completion of all phases.Leadership and Team Management:Lead and manage a team of craft and non-craft employees, providing guidance, training, and support.Foster a collaborative and positive work environment, promoting teamwork and effective communication.Set performance expectations, conduct performance evaluations, and address any personnel issues promptly.Construction Documentation and Drawings:Review and interpret construction documents, drawings, and specifications to ensure accurate project execution.Collaborate with project engineers and designers to resolve design conflicts and develop construction solutions.Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project progress.Compliance and Safety:Ensure compliance with labor regulations, safety standards, and industry best practices.Conduct regular site inspections to identify and address potential safety hazards and risks.Implement effective safety programs and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.Communication and Problem-solving:Facilitate effective communication between project team members, subcontractors, and clients.Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to address and resolve project-related issues.Proactively identify potential challenges and propose innovative solutions to minimize delays and cost overruns.Time Management and Organization:Develop and manage detailed construction schedules, ensuring timely completion of tasks and milestones.Coordinate material deliveries, equipment usage, and subcontractor activities to optimize project efficiency.Monitor project progress, identify deviations from the plan, and take corrective actions as necessary.Qualifications and Skills:Bachelor’s degree in Construction or Engineering is preferred. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.Minimum of 8 years of experience in heavy civil construction.Strong knowledge and understanding of labor regulations and safety standards.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex information.Strong problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to addressing project challenges.Broad understanding of the construction industry, including construction methods, equipment, and materials.Proficient in using construction management software and adaptable to new technologies.Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a diverse team.Exceptional time management and organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously.We are looking for a highly skilled Superintendent to oversee heavy civil transportation projects in Washington DC.
