The Leading Niche is looking for a Communications Network Engineer I (CNE I) to join our team supporting the El Paso Intelligence Center (EPIC). EPIC plays a pivotal role in conducting investigations and interdiction operations by rapidly analyzing and disseminating intelligence related to illicit drugs and drug trafficking, illegal immigration, weapons and bulk currency smuggling, and transnational crime, including terrorism.
This position requires a solid foundation in digital communications, navigation, and monitoring systems. The CNE I will collaborate with experienced engineers and technicians, contributing to the design, installation, maintenance, and repair of critical communication systems.
Required Skills and Responsibilities:
Digital Communications Expertise:
Demonstrate a working knowledge and understanding of digital communications, navigation, and monitoring systems' theory, design, operation, and maintenance.Install, maintain, and repair these systems under the guidance and supervision of more experienced engineers and technicians.
Telecommunications and Network Planning:
Show demonstrated ability in telecommunications and network planning, contributing to the development of robust communication systems.
Telecommunications and Network Troubleshooting:
Display proficiency in telecommunications and network troubleshooting, swiftly resolving issues to ensure uninterrupted operations.
Network System Development:
Participate in the development and implementation of network systems, ensuring efficiency and reliability.
Remote Communication Solutions:
Develop solutions for remotely located, internet-based wired, wireless, Wi-Fi, microwave, and RF communication monitoring systems.Create secure tunnel connections to remote systems for remote access and control of installed monitoring systems.
Operation and Maintenance:
Operate and maintain remote electronic communications monitoring systems, including HF/VHF/UHF receivers, direction-finding equipment, time-difference-on-arrival geo-location devices, workstation computers, wireless access points and routers, laptop computers, and digital radios.
Deployment Readiness:
Be prepared to travel on temporary duty deployments to remote foreign and domestic locations, potentially with less than 24 hours notice.
Vehicle Operation:
Operate an Official Government Vehicle, conducting off-site maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs of sensitive technical equipment.
Travel:
25-30% travel required to different government sites as needed for this role.
Requirements
Education:
a minimum of a two-year degree from an accredited technical institute. Qualified degree programs include electronics, telecommunications, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a similar discipline. Alternatively, an approved equivalent of military training is acceptable.Experience:
a minimum of two years of experience in installing, maintaining, and repairing systems aligned with the primary duties listed above.
Salary Description
80,000 - 85,000
