This unit cares for patients that are status post cardiac surgery. Staffing Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification Successful completion of a proctored rhythm test Department: Observation Unit Shift timings: 18:30-07:00 Unit Capacity: 24 Beds Population Served: Pre and Post Cardiac Surgery, Acute Coronary Syndrome, heart failure, cardiomyopathy, unstable arrhythmias and other related cardiac disorders. Ages of Patients Served: Young Adult through Late Adult (18 - 60+) Nurse to Patient Ratios: 5:1 Core Staffing Plan: Variable staffing grid to include: Registered Nurses (RNs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Patient Care Technicians (PCTs), Nurse Interns (NIs). An RN assumes full responsibility for the patients. Ages of Patients Served: Adolescent through Late Adult (14 - 60+) Nurse to Patient Ratios: 1:6 Roles & Responsibilities Implement and monitor patient care plans. Monitor, record and communicate patient condition as appropriate. Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care. Note and carry out physician and nursing orders. Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team. QUALIFICATIONS Sound knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology. The ability to stand for extended periods. Strong technical skills. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification Associates Degree in Nursing Two years of current cardiovascular telemetry experience Active unencumbered registered nurse Indiana license Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Tennessee Board of Nursing required Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Requirements: COVID vaccine with 2 Shots & Booster. SKILLS/ ABILITIES/ COMPETENCIES REQUIRED: Maintains and updates clinical knowledge and skills. Participates in relevant continuing education programs. Knowledge of and dedication to the highest patient care and provide the utmost service excellence to all patients. Ability to take initiative and to exercise independent judgment, decision-making and problem-solving expertise. A can-do, team oriented attitude is essential, as the ability to work independently and to interact easily with physicians, other managers and staff throughout the department and hospital. Effective interpersonal/communication, organizational, and the flexibility to handle multiple tasks.
