Position Summary:
Responsible for providing medical care to students and staff.
Qualifications :Requires an Associate's degree or diploma from an accredited college or nursing schoolRequires 2 to 5 years of prior experience in a health-related occupationRequired to be a Registered Nurse and maintain current licensureKnowledge of medical terminology, practices and procedure.Current CPR Certification with AEDAbility to maintain positive interpersonal relationshipsAbility to effectively supervise and motivate othersEssential Job Functions
include the following:
Manages a safe medication administration program according to District policy and state lawIncludes assessing need, effects, proper administration and documentationAssesses student and staff illnesses and injuries and prioritizes needsProvides first aid emergency care to students and staffDocuments all health related activitiesMaintains school health recordsDocuments student visits, care, dispositions and medications administered and accidents/incidentsIdentifies students with special needs, and informs those with a need to knowMaintains confidentiality of all information encountered in the scope of responsibilitiesActs as a resource to refer to community agencies and/or health care providersParticipates as a health professional on care teams and IEP's to develop and implements individual health plans to promote, maintain or restore health, prevent illness and effect rehabilitationProvides information to parents regarding student health, community resources, etc.Other duties may be assigned
