Works closely with charge nurse to facilitate timely and appropriate patient placement/through put. Communicates closely with and supports the management regarding daily operations of each specialty area.If assigned to RN-Resource Code, is responsible for providing urgent and emergent response to patients throughout the St Joseph Medical Center (SJMC); also responsible for serving as a resource/mentor to clinical SJMC staff.Essential DutiesActs as a role model, demonstrating technical/clinical competence consistent with the needs of staff and the patient population served Assists with admissions, discharges, and other patient care issues for defined area.Assists with admissions, discharges, and other patient care issues for defined area.Responds to disturbances, interruptions, and subtle and emergent changes in the work environment to minimize potential risks to the unit workflow.Supports and promotes initiatives of service recovery and assures communication for appropriate follow up.Promotes/supports the development of team building in the unit and other department/disciplines.Serves as a resource to the more novice clinician.Ensures appropriate clinical monitoring/resources are provided for patients who require off floor procedures/treatment in their defined area.Responds to all emergent codes including Rapid Response and Code Blue/Code Neuro.Replaces or adjuncts unit staff due to illness, staffing shortages, etc for defined division.Assists with regulatory requirements as defined by unit needs.Assists with any special procedures and/or difficult patient issues.

Qualifications:Job RequirementsGraduation from an accredited school of nursing, BSN preferredMinimum one year of experience in the clinical specialty.Charge or resource nurse experience within the last three years preferred.Current licensure as a Registered Nurse issued by the Washington State Board of Nursing.Current American Heart Association Healthcare BLS Certification.For Critical Care - Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification is required.PICC Line certification preferred.Specialty certification preferred.
