DEFINITION
:
The Deputy Director of Information Technology assists and supports the Director of Information Technology in the overall management and support of the IT Department. The Deputy Director of Information Technology ensures IT services are aligned to support the organizational goals and provides technical leadership to IT staff. The Deputy Director of Information Technology will perform the duties and responsibilities of the Director of IT in the director's absence.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Not all-inclusive)
:
Provides leadership and management of assigned IT staff
Ensures the IT strategic plan and workplan is implemented within budget and on-time
Oversees the selection, development, implementation and operation of the City's IT services
Develops and implements IT policies, procedures and standards
Oversees departmental activities and services of assigned IT divisions
Stays abreast on technology changes and advances in the technology industry
Ensures IT service levels are implemented, monitored and reviewed with the appropriate stakeholders
Collaborates with IT Director to establish IT workplan
Oversees contracts with other governmental agencies, consultants and vendors
Assists in preparation of department budget and monitors expenditures
Provides project management for assigned projects
Serves as technical subject matter expert of assigned technology systems
Provides technical escalation and technology architecture leadership to IT staff
Participates in City leadership meetings as required
Serves in an acting IT Director capacity in the absence of the IT Director
Provides on-call support for after-hours technical outages
Meets on a regular basis with City staff regarding City technology services and elicits feedback
Develops, prepares, administers, and enforces written IT policies and procedures to ensure the protection of assets, information, integrity, security and privacy of information
Delivers presentations and reports to internal and external stakeholders
Ensures staff provide a high level of customer service and maintain a customer focus
Oversees the creation, development, evaluation and approval of an assortment of records, reports, presentations, and related information from various information sources
Assists in creating a positive and supportive work environment and establishes a culture of teamwork and communication that promotes workplace diversity, equity, and inclusion

ADDITIONAL DUTIES
:
Reads and reviews technical manuals and materials to stay current with technology trends.
Maintains and reviews department budget; oversees inventory of IT parts and systems.
Meets with department heads and stakeholders to review system performance and discuss application performance.
Performs related work as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
:
Requires a Bachelor's Degree or Masters in Information Technology; Computer Science or closely related field.
Requires six years' experience in IT administration, systems management or closely related experience.
Requires two years' experience in management within an IT team or department or closely related experience.

Requires a driver's license valid in the State of Florida.
