Summary:
The Vice President of Product Management is responsible for the Cambridge Technology Product Lines, including product definition and planning, technical design, development, and launch of new products and platforms, go-to-market planning, pricing promotion and direction of sales activities. This position has P&L, product portfolio and product development responsibility from conception to end-of-life. Starting with the definition of the overall three strategy and business plan for the product line, to the definition and execute of the annual operating plan, the Vice President of Product Management has a real end-to-end responsibility, leading a business driven by a strong customer orientation. The Vice President of Product Management is a strong people manager, engages his/her team in an entrepreneurial environment
Responsibilities:
Devise complete product definition including design, packaging, and test methodology.
Define product roadmap and manage New Product Development and execution through a stage gate process.
Establish pricing strategies and tactics to meet bookings, revenue & margin goals.
Provide monthly reporting of process against plan.
Develop, with marketing communications, promotional activities.
Compile and analyze competitive information/market data and develop counter strategies.
Lead & train sales organization, including other Novanta sales organizations involved in cross-selling.
Coordinate internal resources with internal groups to meet product objectives.
Generation of support documentation.
Profitably grow the products line business
Work with customers, inside sales and outside sales representatives to ensure the correct solutions are being provided for each application
Create a trustful and sticky relationship with customers
Lead new product development process in preparation for product launch
Drive lifecycle management for key technologies and applications and project management
Develop and lead the implementation of a cross-functional product development process.
Drive predictable project execution and accountability continuously improving the product development process to ensure that it delivers best in class results (including completeness, predictability, and visibility)
Work with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, and finance to execute on key programs, issues or improvements through organization
Define focus applications and market segments for growth.
Target and develop OEM accounts and build channel distribution.
Develop a marketing plan for each product within the target market(s)
Manage customer negotiations, concerns and issues
Resident expert for the product line, providing training internally and externally as required.
Manage product roadmap and competitive analysis
Develop materials and conduct training to educate our sales team, sales representatives, and customers
Participate in regional, national, and international trade shows, conferences, and sales meetings
Manage Oregon employees & office
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in a technology related field preferred or equivalent experience required, master’s degree or MBA preferred
Strong business orientation, entrepreneurial and passionate about solving customer problems.
Minimum of 12 years of experience in Product Management, Engineering or Product Marketing, with experience in Sales, Business Development or Marketing and financial acumen a plus
In-depth knowledge of “industry product line”. Industry background in measurement, characterization, in an industrial and/or medical environment.
Proven track record of growing revenue in a product line or line of business
Experience managing products in an OEM sales driven market
Track record of leading innovative solutions to pressing market pain points
Proficiency at managing time between strategic and tactical projects and priorities
Demonstrated proficiency in mentoring, coaching and leadership through influencing skills
Travel Requirements:
50% or less
