The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (NP):
Provides patient assessment, diagnosis, and treatment plans in accordance with statutes, regulations, and protocols regulating the professionCollaborates with the staff psychiatrist, the nursing staff, and technical personnel, as well as the counselors and outside providers to enhance better outcomes and care coordinationProvides psychiatric health services, education, individual and group counseling and assessment, primarily onsite but through Telemental Health when indicatedRefers patients for inpatient care, in collaboration with the staff psychiatrist, as necessaryIssues medication prescriptions in accordance with treatment guidelinesAdminister injectable medications as clinically indicatedOrders laboratory tests; interprets and explains the test results to patientsCommunicates with patients and engages in follow-up as necessaryQualifications
Active New York State Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner license5+ years' experience as a licensed practicing NPPComprehensive knowledge of mental health and substance use disorders to include dually diagnosed, and harm reductionKnowledge of Medication Assisted Treatment, including Methadone, Buprenorphine and VivitrolExperience working with adults across age ranges to include -ages 18 to 100+Comprehensive understanding of regulations and compliance requirements for documentationDesired skills
Experience in a community-based nonprofit or other mission-driven organization that targets adult underserved populations
