Overview
Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to assist in the technical and administrative direction and supervision of projects through constant communication with the Project Manager and the client to ensure that the project is completed in accordance with the contract. The Assistant Project Manager may serve as Project Manager on smaller projects to develop the skills for a career path into Project Management. Water and wastewater management presents unique challenges from environmental, health and economic issues, to regulatory concerns. Responsibilities
Assist in management and design of complex, multi-discipline projects. Coordinate sound project management principles with other disciplines. Assist in preparation of effective work plans and labor budgets for approval by supervisor. Demonstrate proficiency in utilization of the Colliers MVP tool for preparation of project design costs. Monitor time schedules and capital cost budgets on projects to meet / exceed client expectations. Oversee the work and productivity on assigned projects. Strive to achieve predetermined goals for profit, productivity targets, and schedule of deliverables on all assigned projects. Participate in or hold team meetings ensuring procedures governing the review and approval of projects are followed prior to submission of completed work. Negotiate with clients on any scope changes relative to project budgets and schedules subject to supervisor's approval. Cross sell Colliers services where appropriate. Ensure all project work is performed and completed in accordance with QA/QC standards, systems and procedures as designated for project. Coordinate and communicate effectively with all employees involved in the project to ensure high utilization rates (i.e. Project team meeting). Review monthly labor and cost reports to ensure projects are being completed at the pre-established goal. Assist with mentoring junior staff in learning sound technical and business practices and enhancing corporate objectives. Assist with the preparation for public hearings, meetings and any other presentations related to his/her projects. Work efficiently with the Billing Department to authorize and transmit bills to client. Follows up with clients for timely payments. Adhere to Health and Safety program and all applicable SOPs. May oversee the activities of assigned staff, including but not limited to timesheet review and approval, performance evaluation and daily supervision. Prepare and review comprehensive draft proposals and change orders. Manage project budgets and schedules. Prepare conceptual layouts in consultation with client. Guide staff regarding project design. Review application submittals. Prepare and review technical reports, specifications, and memos. Conduct team and client meetings. Complete project billing on time. Develop strong, mutual -trust based, client relationships. Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in environmental engineering, or civil engineering. PE license is required. Experience with permitting with NC DOH and DEC is required. 8+ years of experience in the civil/environmental engineering field with concentration in water/wastewater design. Experience with AutoCAD & OpenRoads is desired. Excellent communication skills. Design experience with water and waste water treatment plant process and design. Extensive knowledge in permitting requirements and processes for water / wastewater collection and treatment projects. Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
