Business Development Manager

Position Summary:

The Business Development Manager focuses on business development with Targeted OEMs, Contract Manufacturing Organizations, and Design Houses and select processors in support of the business unit’s sales strategy and objectives. The position will have a primary focus on healthcare but will include other market designations as needed. Primary responsibilities include direct engagement with OEMs identifying viable opportunities and leading them from development to final specification. This position requires extensive coordination and communication with external customers as well as internal associates including sales, strategic business development managers technical support, customer service, finance, and operations. Business travel is a required component.

Position Requirements/Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, or related field

Experience: Minimum 5-10 years of relevant industry experience (e.g., Plastics Compounding, Masterbatch) and an understanding of related processes (Injection Molding, Extrusion Thermoforming)

Minimum 5-10 years product development, sales, or polymer formulation experience.

Experience in specific segments of interest preferred, Healthcare, NAV, Aerospace, Electronics, Industrial goods.

Essential Duties:

The duties listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.Develops strong relationships with OEMs and customers to develop knowledge of the technical requirements for products and services.Serves as a primary technical contact to OEMs to understand their needs and participate in new platform and continuous improvement initiatives at accounts to generate new opportunities and drive AEC product qualification / specification.Actively identifies and documents new product development and application opportunities.Manages new opportunities from concept through product qualification and specification.Serves as a contributor to technology strategies that are in-line with business strategies.Professionally communicates ideas, proposals, and programs to customer contacts and management.Accurately maintains required documentation by reporting and maintaining account information, opportunities, and project tracking records.Presents technical work to customers, as well as to various levels of management.Analyzes, manages, and forecasts revenue and profitability potential in new business opportunities.Performs with (and contributes to) a highly motivated sales group with a strong team atmosphere.Demonstrates basic technical knowledge of plastics processes, plastics compounding theory, extrusion and/or injection molding processes.Demonstrates high initiative to achieve aggressive goals and pursue opportunities over extended periods of time.Effectively communicates with management and sales group and customers.Improves job knowledge by attending training and keeping relevant knowledge and skills current.Follows all quality system and safety protocols, completing safety training; maintaining a safe driving record; and contributing to safety goals; keeping work areas clean and organized, and assisting in implementation of ideas for continuous improvement.Required Qualities/Attributes
