About the Role:

We are seeking a highly experienced and well-networked Business Development Manager with a robust background in engineering and a thorough understanding of ISO 13485 and FDA requirements. This individual will play a pivotal role in generating new business opportunities, offering innovative solutions to customers, and showcasing the exceptional capabilities of their manufacturing team. In this customer-facing role, the BDM will drive growth and strengthen their position in key market segments that utilize plastic injection molding and contract manufacturing. The ideal candidate will also have established relationships with major OEMs in those markets.

Job Description:

The primary role of the Business Development Manager (BDM) is to prospect for new customers by networking, cold calling, following up on inbound marketing leads, or other means of generating interest from potential customers that are in alignment with our target market. They must then plan persuasive approaches and solutions that will convince potential customers to do business with the company. They develop rapport with new accounts, identify quote opportunities, and provide support that will continually improve the relationship. BDMs are also required to grow and retain assigned existing accounts by ensuring they are aware of current and new capabilities. They work with internal teammates across all departments to maintain and improve customer satisfaction. He/she may oversee or mentor the activities of others responsible for assisting with developing business for the company.

Strategic planning is a key part of this job description, since it is the business manager's responsibility to develop the pipeline of new business coming into the company. This requires a thorough knowledge of the market, the solutions/services that we provide, and a well-rounded knowledge of competitors. The main duties of the Business Development Manager can be summarized as follows:

Business DevelopmentProspect for potential new customers and turn this into increased business.Cold call as appropriate within target markets within North America to ensure a robust pipeline of accounts with quoting opportunities.Meet potential customers by growing, maintaining, and leveraging your network and relationships.Identify potential customers, and all the decision makers within their organization.Research and build relationships with new prospects and customers.Set capability introduction meetings with potential customers and involve our Corporation support resources as necessary to maximize first impressions.Plan out market/territory management approach, develop prospect lists and compelling sales messaging.Work with team members as necessary to create quotes and proposals that effectively address the customer's needs, concerns, and objectives.Participate in pricing the solution/service by providing the company with competitive pricing insights.Handle objections by clarifying, emphasizing agreements, and working through differences to a positive conclusion.Use a variety of methods to negotiate appropriately and effectively.Present an image that mirrors that of the customer while consistently fulfilling the core values of Westec Plastic CorporationCustomer Retention

Identify total account potential and grow wallet share accordingly.Establish and maintain relationships at all customer contact levels to create partnership-style interaction.Fulfill liaison role between customer's technical staff and internal teammates to achieve customer needs.Ensure customers have a complete understanding of our capabilities and present new products/services.Conduct routine account reviews to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.Arrange and participate in new project debriefs to improve upon working relationship.Deliver sales mentoring to our customer facing internal staff as necessary.Business Development Planning

Attend industry functions, such as association events, tradeshows, and conferences, and provide feedback and information on market trends.Present to and consult with the President and Leadership Team on business trends to play an active role in developing new services, products, and distribution channels.Identify opportunities for campaigns, partner relationships, and distribution channels that will lead to an increase in sales.Using their knowledge of the market and competitors, build upon the company's unique selling propositions and differentiators.Understand the company's core values, vision, goals and purpose that will continually enhance the company's performance.Administration and Product Knowledge

Submit internal weekly progress reports as requested.Ensure that data is accurately entered and managed within the company's CRM.

Accurately forecast sales opportunities and ensure they are met.Track and record all sales activity to provide a centralized hub for all account communication history and notes.

Work with customers and internal teammates to ensure that new customer set-up requirements are fulfilled within a timely manner.Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the company's capabilities and people resources.Stay current with industry related trends through research and trade related reading.Requirements:

Education:

Four-year college degree (Bachelor's degree) in Sales, Marketing, Plastics, or Engineering or have a demonstrated equivalent work experience.

Knowledge:

A technical sales knowledge in the plastic injection molding industry, finishing and contract manufacturing.A fundamental understanding of core technologies and how they apply to customers' needs.A knowledge of relevant company functions/capabilities within the company and an ability to work with technical, supply chain, and operations personnel.Strong interpersonal communication skills, including listening skills.Effective time management and prioritization.Mastery of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook.Mastery of and discipline in use of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems for cultivating and managing prospects, customers, opportunities and pipeline reporting.Experience:

At least 10 years (15+ years preferred) experience in technical sales.Experience in injection molding is preferred.A successful track record of year-over-year sales growth.Independent Judgment:

Uses sound and independent judgement extensively when dealing with customers and assessing new business potential.A significant portion of time is spent in the field, so exercising sound independent judgment is an essential skill.Quality:

Follows departmental procedures, giving significant attention to details and accuracy.It is extremely important to focus on the quality of work, with an eye for accuracy to minimizing errors.The Business Development Manager role has a primary goal of providing exemplary service to customers to ensure the highest possible level of customer satisfaction.Other Skills and Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Plastics, Engineering or a related field.Proven experience in sales or business development within the Healthcare, Consumer Products, Consumer Packaging, and related industries, with established relationships with major OEMs.Strong understanding of ISO 13485 and FDA requirements.Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic sales plans.Experience leading and mentoring a sales team is preferred.Willingness to travel as needed.Featured benefits
