JOB DESCRIPTION
Department:
Cardiac Surgery
Shift Timings:
Early Morning 06:00 - 15:00 Hours
Delivers professional nursing care in the operative setting to patients undergoing surgical or other invasive procedures.
Roles & ResponsibilitiesPerforms scrub functions including the selection and handling of instruments and supplies used during procedure.Performs circulating functions including monitoring, recording and communicating patient condition and managing overall nursing care of patient before, during and after procedure.Directly assists operating physician with surgical tasks including hemostasis, suturing and wound exposure as well as patient positioning.Prepares operating rooms and surgical instruments and equipment for use.Complexity of Work:
Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.Must be able to work in a stressful environment.QUALIFICATIONS
Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR required professional licensure at time of hire.Required a minimum of three to seven years of cardiac operating room experience.One to two years of circulating and scrub RN experienceBLS/ACLSLicensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing requiredNational Institute of Health (NIH)Requirements:
COVID vaccine with 2 Shots & Booster.SKILLS/ ABILITIES/ COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
Maintains and updates clinical knowledge and skills.Participates in relevant continuing education programs.Knowledge of and dedication to the highest patient care and provide the utmost service excellence to all patients.Ability to take initiative and to exercise independent judgment, decision-making and problem-solving expertise.A can-do, team oriented attitude is essential, as the ability to work independently and to interact easily with physicians, other managers and staff throughout the department and hospital.Effective interpersonal/communication, organizational, and the flexibility to handle multiple tasks.
