Summary:
The Haul Truck Driver is responsible for operating heavy haul trucks to transport materials, such as dirt, gravel, debris, and other construction materials, within or between construction sites. This role demands adherence to safety and traffic regulations, precise maneuvering of heavy vehicles, and effective communication with site managers and crew members to ensure timely and safe delivery of materials.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Operate haul trucks and other heavy equipment to transport construction materials safely to and from various locations within the construction site or between sites.Conduct pre-operational checks on the haul truck and associated equipment to ensure they are in safe, working order. Report any mechanical issues or safety concerns to the supervisor immediately.Load and unload materials carefully and efficiently, following operational guidelines and safety standards.Navigate construction sites and public roads safely, adhering to all traffic laws and site-specific safety protocols.Communicate effectively with site supervisors and other team members to coordinate pickups and deliveries, ensuring materials are transported in a timely manner.Maintain accurate logs of materials transported, distances traveled, and hours worked, in compliance with state and federal regulations.Participate in safety meetings and training sessions to stay informed of new regulations and company policies regarding haul truck operation and construction site safety.Keep the haul truck and associated equipment clean and well-maintained, performing basic maintenance tasks as required.Assist with general construction site duties when not operating the haul truck, as directed by the supervisor.Requirements:
Proven experience operating haul trucks or similar heavy equipment in a construction or industrial environment.Strong understanding of construction site safety practices and traffic laws.Ability to read and follow maps, GPS directions, and construction site plans.Physical ability to sit for long periods, as well as to bend, climb, and lift materials as needed.Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to follow verbal and written instructions.Willingness to work in various outdoor weather conditions and to adapt to changing schedules or work overtime as required by project deadlines.Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.At least two years of experience driving haul trucks or similar vehicles in a construction or related industrial setting.Additional certifications or training related to heavy equipment operation are advantageous.
