About the Position:
Manufacturing Material Handlers may be responsible for performing one or all of the essential functions in a given day to accommodate operational needs. Employees may be required to be cross-trained in any number of functions below. All functions require that the employee maintains and up-to-date knowledge of all current products and materials.
What's Expected (including but not limited to):Delivers and inspects production materials and supplies as needed while maintaining inventory accuracy and cleanliness.Beater/Bagger- "Whomps" the pillows by repeatedly slapping the pillow with both hands so smooth out the fill within. Requires constant standing. Inserts a half core and zips pillow closed. Ensures quality standard before packaging pillow into a bag or box.Retail Box Maker - Cleans and erects retail cartons for the finished good pillows. This position requires constant standing while keeping up with the production line by keeping the conveyor full at all times with empty, erected retail cartonsRetail Box Closer - Closes retail cartons on a conveyor and packs pillows two at a time into master cartonsMaster Carton Maker/Stacker- This position must verify the shipping labels with the work order before labeling master cartons. Once master cartons are labeled, they will be erected and taped on the bottom side of the carton. Once a master carton if filled with the maximum number of pillows, the carton will be taped shut and stacked 3 or 5 high then moved into a separate location by using a hand truck. This position requires constant bending and lifting up to 40 lbs.Prep - This area is normally staffed at a minimum of three people. VZB bags must be "cleaned" by taking tissue paper out from in between the bags. Paper inserts are inserted into the bags based on the work order and part number of the inserts.Pillow shells are also "cleaned" and stamped with a work order number. This position requires to be on your feet throughout the majority of the shift.Utility - The person who performs a variety of general housekeeping and organization of the production department. Dump and return of mobile trash dumpsters throughout the department, overall maintenance of bearings on roller buggies, recycling of metals and corrugate, communicating when trash compactors are full and need swapped out. This position must also learn to use a bailer for corrugated materialMinimum Requirements:
Must be 18 years of age or olderHS Diploma or GEDMust be legally authorized to work in the United States and have IDs needed to verifyMust be willing to work mandatory overtime when neededMust be willing and able to submit to pre-employment and random drug testingMust be able to pass all safety training testsEducation/Experience/License Requirements:
1 year in operations within a factory environment preferredExperience working with a teamOperation of forklift and pallet jack, must be able to pass written and operational skills testSeamstress, 2+ year minimum operating industrial sewing machine preferred
