REPORTS TO : Director of Transportation
SUPERVISES : N/A
TERM : 10 months
JOB GOAL : School Bus Drivers are responsible for safely transporting children to and from school and related events.
QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING:High School Diploma or EquivalentValid and appropriate driver's licenseMust have or Obtain a Valid Tennessee Commercial Driver's License with a passenger (P) and school (S) endorsement Safe driving record which meets the County Office of Education's insurance requirementsHas or obtain ASE school bus certification (s)Must pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) Physical and TB Test
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with
provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of personnel.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES :
Job Description: Bus Driver
Drives a school transportation vehicle within a prescribed route(s) in accordance with time schedules; picking up and discharging students at designated stopsMay operate a special ramp bus; loads and unloads students in wheelchairs on and off bus, inspecting wheelchair for operational safety; operates ramp; positions and secures wheelchair in busTransports students and teacher on field trips to various locations; planning necessary route(s) and stops as neededMaintains order an proper discipline of student passengers according to district policyConduct safety and operational inspection of assigned vehicle dailyReports needed mechanical repairs when necessaryMaintains cleanliness of vehicle to ensure safe operating conditionCompletes periodic mileage and other reports including passenger countsAttends various meetings regarding safety, first aid and training updates as requiredAttends driver training programs to maintain current knowledge of California Motor Vehicle Code and the Education Code as it applies to the operation of vehicles in the transportation of school childrenPerforms other related duties as assignedWork as a team member with other transportation employees
