We have thousands of jobs around the globe and encourage all of our associates to chase their dreams without having to find them in another company it truly is a special place.While reporting to the Production Manager in the extrusion department, you will be responsible for feeding raw materials to silos while keeping maximum levels at all times as well as grinding scrap rolls and keeping minimum scrap on the floor. Safety is our first concern and the team is expected to comply with safety rules & regulations. Excellent attendance is crucial for the team to achieve success and be able to adapt to a fast-paced environment. You will take pride in your personal hands-on and analytical abilities, organizational skills and attention to detail.Day to day responsibilities will include:Handling all products and materials in a safe mannerFeeding raw materials into 8 silos, to maintain maximum level at all timesOperating rail car loader and push pull loaderGetting silo readings from computer panelsMeeting with supervisor on a daily basis in order to plan the materials and silos that need to be fed by accurately filling out the necessary paperworkGrinding scrap rolls to maintain minimum to zero levels of scrap on the floorMaintaining a clean and uncluttered work space at tilt stations and grinder areasInspecting all equipment at start of shift, determining safety concerns, repairs needed & documentations.Reporting any safety hazards or concerns to supervisor.Operating the Powered Industrial Vehicle (Forklift) for the use in handling product.Always being an effective team player that is willing to take additional task beyond assigned responsibilities.This position is in our Plastics plant in beautiful Exeter, California.We expect you to be Sonoco mission drivenYou must have at least one-year of Forklift Experience (Required)You will need to have exceptional troubleshooting and problem solving abilities.You have to have a get it done attitude and an urgency to resolve problems/tasks.To succeed in this role you will need excellent written and verbal communication skillsYou will need to be able to lift up to 50 lbs. as needed.Having the ability to effectively work with a team in a fast-paced environment is crucial to success.You will need to have the ability to read and understand manufacturing instructions.You will need to have the ability to work quickly while maintaining a high level of craftsmanship and attention to detail.Physical work including but not limited to pushing, pulling, gripping, twisting, reaching, etc.Must be willing to work outside of regular shift hours including weekends if production or customer demands require it.We care about the health and wellness of you and your family.
