Temporary Worker - Shuttle Driver

Wage/Hour Status:Non-Exempt
Pay Grade:Temporary Worker
Pay Rate:16-24.78 per hour (anything above 16 is only for CDL holders that have all the school bus endorsements)
Qualifications:
College hours, high school diploma or GED (preferred)
Five years of vehicle driving experience
Acceptable driving record as defined by TxDPS and Katy ISD
Able to communicate in English in both written and oral
Able to read and interpret maps and routes
Able to climb in and out of all vehicle emergency exits
Able to work productively without continual supervision
Primary Purpose:
Safely drive students around the district on a set schedule. Safely transport students and staff to and from district sanctioned activities. Always act in the best interest of the district, the students and the community.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Operate any Katy ISD vehicle and related equipment in a safe and efficient manner while following all traffic laws, district policies, district regulations and Transportation Department regulations. Report involvement in any accident in a timely manner. Provide written/oral reports for discipline, as required. Maintain effective student management. Load and unload students from the vehicle following appropriate guidelines. Perform emergency evacuation of students, if needed, to include assist and/or lift students. Keep the interior of the vehicle clean and sanitized after each trip. Communicate discipline procedures and/or problems either by verbal interaction or by written communication to riders, parents and principals. Report work related injuries and student injuries immediately to the principal. Attend all required in-service trainings and safety meetings. Attend all route practices and rehearsals. Attend Special Needs trainings, as required. Read and follow established procedures and guidelines. Keep the department informed as to their availability to drive a vehicle. Work at least two days per week.
Equipment Used:
School vehicle, emergency equipment (triangle reflectors, fire extinguisher, bodily fluids kit, etc.), cleaning equipment (sanitizer, rag, towel, broom, mop, etc.).
Working Conditions:
Maintain emotional and physical control under stress.Prolonged driving and sitting.Frequent walking, standing, twisting, climbing stairs, stooping, bending, grasping/squeezing, wrist and shoulder flexion/extension.Moderate lifting and carrying.Work outside and inside; Work around vehicles and machinery with moving parts; Frequent exposure to extreme temperatures (hot and cold), vehicle fumes, noise and dust.Working around moving vehicles and vehicles/machinery with moving parts. Irregular hours and occasional prolonged hours.
