Project Engineer

for our

Salt Lake City, UT, USA, Fibers

The selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following obligations:

Under the direction of the Engineering manager, scope and estimate continuous improvement and capital projects and author capital expenditure requests. Develop CI savings estimates, provide cost and schedule control, identify required resources, and coordinate between all affected parties. Participate in Global Continuous Improvement team to identify and communicate project status between sites. Work with site personnel to efficiently and effectively execute projects with minimal impact to existing operations coordinating to ensure key objectives are met. Communicate project status with senior employees and project stakeholders; develop and delivery formal presentations to management as necessary. Develop proposals or RFQ's for the purposes of scoping or estimating capital investments; work with vendors and/or contractors to optimize system performance. Coordinate the procurement process for capital expenditure projects, including interface and negotiations with suppliers of equipment and services. Develop technical specifications and procedural documentation, ensuring that equipment conforms to local specifications and availability. Prepare and maintain Engineering drawings, including Engineering and Process Flow Diagrams, Assembly Drawings, and Detailed Design Drawings. Design and/or troubleshoot systems related to instruments, controls, mechanical, thermal, hydraulic, or heat transfer. Evaluate field installations and recommend design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions. Provide oversight for commissioning and startup of new or modified equipment. Ensure safe working practices are carried out to comply with site standards on health, safety, and environmental regulations. Qualifications:

Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field with a minimum of 3+ years of experience in the field or in a related area. Demonstrated ability to manage projects and fulfill responsibilities associated with project engineering teams. Manufacturing experience preferred. Knowledge of a range of engineering disciplines (instrumentation, electrical, civil, mechanical, and chemical). Demonstrated ability to both work within and lead multi-disciplinary teams. Demonstrated ability to perform safety analysis, especially HAZOP or FMEA. Experience in developing and reading of mechanical design drawings. Oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and superior organizational abilities. Ability to take initiative, maintain confidentiality, and meet deadlines. Ability to command the personal respect and confidence of colleagues and customers for technical capability.
