About the Role
Seeking a Designer of Denim who will work in an energizing, inclusive, and creative environment focused on denim concepting and creating Kids (boys & girls) denim product that exceeds customers' expectations. You must have some understanding of and enthusiasm for denim product and the GapKids & BabyGap aesthetic. You must have a knack for spotting trends and transform them into commercially successful products for the target Gap customer. You’ll drive our denim business forward with customer curiosity while embracing risk taking and collaborating within a creative cross-functional team.
What You'll Do
Responsible for developing the Kids (boys and girls) Denim line under the direction of the Senior Denim Design Director and Director of Kids & Baby Denim including jeans, denim shorts, denim apparel and outerwear.
Manage the entire product design process from conception to production, ensuring meticulous attention to detail.
Influence strategic direction for Kids & Baby Denim product area and team.
Conduct thorough seasonal competitive research on fabric, wash, and fit and quality construction, translating findings into compelling presentations and style recommendations. Research will be gathered from on- line, vintage shopping, fabric sourcing, market and social media.
Provide style and line assortment recommendations regarding seasonal themes, edits to line, new concepts.
Translate trend research into ideas for product designs through sketches using Adobe Illustrator, Miro, Photoshop, etc.
Partner with the R&D wash & fabric teams on seasonal wash development and fabric approvals. Pull wash standards, build wash ranges, & assign wash targets to styles each season through line planning. Comment on submits through final approval.
Maintain creative direction aligned with brand concepts and merchant line plans within assigned price points.
Prepare seasonal presentations and advocate for design ideas to internal design leadership and partnering merchant team.
Create and manage tech packs including detailed sketches, technical line drawings & boms. Prepare trim packages to pass to Production/ Vendor.
Manage fittings working closely with the tech team on sample execution to ensure design integrity, accuracy, and completeness.
Collaborate with cross functional partners to meet all calendar deadlines and milestones. Partner with Merchandising, R&D, Production, Technical design, Visual Merchandising and Marketing to creatively solve problems throughout the product development process, adhere to cost challenges, and to ensure product concept to store and site execution is a seamless customer experience.
Who You Are
Knowledge of denim design, denim wash, denim fabrication, and construction.
Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
Excellent communication, problem-solving, presentation, and organizational skills.

Salary Range: $85,100 - $112,800 USD
Employee pay will vary based on factors such as qualifications, experience, skill level, competencies and work location. We will meet minimum wage or minimum of the pay range (whichever is higher) based on city, county and state requirements.
