Job SummaryThe Commercial Lines Team Leader is a supervisory position, responsible for consistently delivering exceptional client experience and serving as a thought leader within the organization. With a flexible and positive attitude, the Team Lead will serve as a clear, compassionate communicator who enjoys connecting with people.

This individual acts as project manager by clearly communicating and collaboratively guiding the account team to execute customer specific initiatives which deliver unique value.

Responsibilities

Managing workflow and workload of Account Manager(s) and Associate Account Manager(s)

Coaches and mentors team on work-related scenarios, guiding on right markets, coverages, and negotiating techniques to get best in class results for current markets.

Maintain and manage staff conflict appropriately.

Onboard and train all team members.

Provide team guidance regarding customer service inquiries as well as specific coverage, processing, and carrier procedures.

Manage team’s compliance with licensure and CE reporting to Director of Operations and Human Resources.

Coordinate strategy and marketing for new and renewal coverage processes.

Work closely with Claims director on regular claims review and loss control.

Create, review, and analyze departmental reports with supervisor.

Foster inter-departmental relationships with emphasis on producers.

Correspond with carrier underwriters.

Maintain strong relationships with carrier partners including ongoing communication and collaboration.

Increase new business growth and renewal retention with a customer-oriented focus exceeding established goals.

Utilize independent judgment and application of underwriting skills to evaluate risk on a case by case and book of business basis.

Identify and follow-up on cross selling opportunities when appropriate.

Maintain technical industry expertise through continuing education and developmental opportunities.

Optimize EPIC workflows.

Respond to more complex client needs and questions, escalating when appropriate.

Conduct quarterly staff audits as well as carrier book audits as noted in goals.

Conduct quarterly and annual staff performance reviews in conjunction with Director of Operations and/or Human Resources.

Required Skills/Qualifications:

Strong PC skills, with a focus on the Microsoft Office Suite of products (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, etc.), as well as agency management systems

Strong presentation skills, with the ability to influence others.

Ability to interpret abstract information.

Ability to work within a fast-paced, changing priority environment.

Self-motivated, with the initiative to prioritize and be self-directed.

Regular, punctual attendance is required.

Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally, and in writing.

Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with both colleagues and managers across all levels.

Ability to promote, and maintain a team environment, willing to find accommodating solutions for our customers, companies, and the Agency.

Ability to successfully adhere to company policies and procedures, as well as maintain strict confidentiality.

7-10 Years of previous insurance leadership experience, with a focus on commercial lines and surety coverages, underwriting, and marketing/rating preferred.

Possession of, or the ability to quickly obtain, all licenses as required by the State Department of Insurance.

College degree, CPCU, and CIC designations preferred.

Proven experience working with mid-size to large commercial lines customers preferred.
