A sales manager is responsible for leading and guiding a team of sales people in the dealership. They set sales goals & quotas, build a sales plan, analyze data, assign sales training and mentor their team members.
Specific Job-Related Duties and Responsibilities
Work directly with employees and customers to develop relationships and help bridge disconnects in the sales processBuild rapport with customers to build a base of referrals to establish customer networkProvide training and support to the sales staff and assist in closing salesHelp manage all other aspects of the sales departmentDesk Deals, Track Gross Logs and RDR carsMaintain sustainable dealership production levelsIdentify coaching needs and promote training opportunitiesDevelop future sales managers and professionals through job growth, training, development and performanceProvide guidance, support and motivation to ensure employees are maximizing their ability and growth potentialSet an example of professionalism through actions and appearanceMaintain superior customer service (CSI) through dealership cultureEnsure target revenues are met or exceededResponsible for profitability the departmentWork closely with sales team on enforcement of proper selling methodsManage inventoryWork with the General Manager to review forecasts and profits for each departmentResponsible for developing productive relationships throughout the various dealership departments.Maintain a positive and ethical working relationship with all employees, manufacturers, lenders, vendors and customersMaintain value, quality, and integrityGeneral Company Related Duties and Responsibilities
Report to work within acceptable time frames and company standards.Maintain appropriate degree of professionalism towards customers and coworkers.Qualifications
Minimum high school diploma or GED equivalent requiredPrior Sales Leadership - Dealership experience requiredExcellent communication and customer service skillsStrong computer & phone skills (Internet, MS Outlook, CRM)Strong understanding of inventory controlDesk deals for sales professionals and take T.O.'s to maximize deal potentialDeal with local and national vendors and manufacturer representativesProfessional appearance and work ethicSelf-motivated, goal oriented, and ability to work within a fast-paced environmentCurrent, valid driver's license and satisfactory Motor Vehicle Report (MVR)
