The Role:
BigHat Biosciences is seeking an exceptional Manager or Associate Director on the Platform team to lead the high-throughput production, reagents, and assays support functions.
*At BigHat we believe in titles that are commensurate with skill set, relative organizational impact, and value contribution; more or less experienced candidates are encouraged to apply, with the understanding that responsibilities and title would adjust as appropriate.Responsibilities Include:Create and execute a vision for the growth of high-throughput platform production, reagents development, and assay support functions.Manage and grow a team of scientists, including providing scientific mentorship and guidance, and fostering growth opportunities.Proactively identify, architect, and implement solutions that effectively scale our processes and drive continuous improvement across all areas of ownership.Represent the platform production team in collaboration and coordination efforts across the company, from new program onboarding to weekly priorities.Lead troubleshooting efforts to identify and rectify root causes affecting BigHat’s platform processes.Drive the growth of BigHat’s internal reagents capabilities, encompassing development, manufacturing, and quality control.Lead assay support functions with emphasis on increasing platform robustness and flexibility, optimizing production assays, and refining performance qualification processes.Partner closely with scientific, engineering, operations, and data science teams on growing BigHat’s platform and processes.(Preferred) Provide hands-on bench support for critical experiments as needed.About You:Master's or Ph.D. in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field.Minimum of 5 years of relevant industry experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial role.Proven track record of successfully leading, mentoring, and growing teams.Demonstrated ability in troubleshooting complex technical issues and driving continuous process improvements.Strong scientific background with experience in molecular biology, reagents development, and QC.Experience with LIMS and/or lab automation preferred.Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate with members of a multidisciplinary team.Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.About BigHat Biosciences:BigHat Biosciences designs safer, more effective biologic therapies for patients using machine learning and synthetic biology.
