DescriptionThe role:
BigHat Biosciences is looking for a skilled product owner to join our team. This role is perfect for someone passionate about software development and eager to significantly contribute to scientific discovery. As a Product Owner, you will work closely with our scientists, laboratory teams and engineers to solve complex problems with impactful solutions at the cutting edge of agile science and software. You will own the vision and roadmap for our internal scientific software platform, Reccy, a powerful, sophisticated LIMS++ system that differentiates BigHat and powers our MillinerTM platform. Our collaborative environment encourages a multidisciplinary approach to develop software solutions that advance our ability to design, build, and test molecules at scale, aiding in the creation of safer, more effective therapeutic antibodies.
This role reports directly to the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and works closely with engineering. Your customers span every level of our science organization and you’ll be responding directly to needs from our Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) and Co-Founder in guiding the future of Reccy.Goals and ResponsibilitiesVoice of the customer, bridge to engineeringMeet with every member of the internal science team
Translate solution requirements into concrete feature requests
Prioritize and assess impactRank and order the problems by value to the business
Understand trade-offs in science needs and engineering timelines
Lead and collaborate with customers/engineers to identify/validate solutions
DeliverOwn the roll-out and adoption of new features
Own the metrics tracking new feature adoption/use/stability/performance
Own follow through with engineers and follow-up with stakeholders
Roadmap and direction: scientific needs translated into biweekly, quarterly, annual product plan
Product lifecycle: Determine how the product is doing. Track current usage, stability, performance.
Team and org: Determine hiring needs and skills/background to prioritize.
About YouSuccessfully delivered a software product to end-users, preferably in a scientific context and to scientists/researchers
Experience working with a software engineering team
Experience working with customers/stakeholders to understand requirements
Scientists in a therapeutic or biological sciences context
Experience hiring, managing and mentoring product owners
Excellent problem-solver and critical thinker, capable of addressing challenges creatively and efficiently
Possesses strong written and verbal communication skills, enabling you to explain technical details to a non-technical audience and collaborate effectively with your team.
Passionate about technology and innovation, constantly seeking to learn and improve your skills.
Relevant Tech/Skills:Figma or similar prototyping tools
Diagramming solution for workflows (Miro, etc)
JIRA or similar task tracker or roadmapping tool
Software development experience, especially front-end
