Community Foundations of the Hudson Valley (CFHV) seeks an experienced and highly motivated asset development professional to focus on Putnam and Southern Dutchess Counties. The Vice President for Development will work collaboratively with a seasoned senior management team to drive revenue growth across all channels of fundraising. Reporting to the President & CEO, the Vice President for Development, cultivates and solicits new and existing donors with the goal of establishing donor funds and securing long-term, endowed, and unrestricted assets. This position also solicits annual support through grants, sponsorships, as well as major gifts. This position will also contribute to, and partner with, the Development team on the design and successful execution of events that attract professional advisors and inspire and celebrate local philanthropy by educating donors about community issues and how they may get involved to address those issues. The Vice President for Development creates strong donor linkages through stewardship of a portfolio of fund advisors and donors, developing goals and strategies for each, and maintaining regular personal contact. Duties and Responsibilities
Fund Development
Work with President & CEO and Development colleagues to develop long-range strategic asset development and annual work plans, including goals for asset development in accordance with Foundation goals.
Work with Advisory Committees to cultivate and strengthen relationships that ultimately grow our ability to impact positive change in the Hudson Valley.
Identify, cultivate, solicit, and close major gifts through new prospects, professional advisors (attorneys, accountants, wealth managers and trust officers), nonprofit and community groups encouraging their giving to/through the Foundation.
Serve as department lead on grant proposals, including identification of potential local, regional, and national funders, application, submission, management, oversight, and coordination of follow-up reporting.
Plan, organize, and execute events that inspire local philanthropy and educate donors about community concerns.
Regularly connect with and present to professional advisors and their firms to ensure the Foundation is top of mind for their client’s philanthropic planning.
Facilitate complex gifts, including bequests, planned gifts, real estate, closely held business interests and private foundation conversions.
Organize and oversee the fundraising efforts, including cultivation and solicitation, of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees.
Maintain donor records and communication of donor and Fund information, tracking donor contacts and interests, ensuring timely delivery of communications.
Work closely with the marketing team to develop collateral for all development initiatives and charitable giving programs.
Collaborate with the Development and Finance team in preparing new donor and fund development results to the Board of Trustees, donors, and other stakeholders.
Engage in outreach to target audiences and maintain positive relationships with Foundation constituents, community, and business leaders.
Other duties and special projects as needed.
Requirements
Enjoys fundraising and managing relationships with donors
An appreciation of the role of philanthropy in building community
Proven record of closing major gifts and/or sales
Highly motivated, self-starter with strong organizational skills and ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail
Strong interpersonal skills both internal and external
Exemplary written and verbal communication skills
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
Highly resourceful team-player, with the ability to also be extremely effective independently and be proactive with approaches to problem solving

Desired Experience :5+ years of relevant experience leading fundraising efforts for mission driven institutions. Experience leading a highly effective team toward outstanding results.Excellent skills and experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, working with databases and internet research.Proficiency with C-Suite or similar dynamic CRM software is a must. Compensation : The annual salary range for this position is $87,000 to $90,000, commensurate with experience.The position is a full-time, exempt position with a comprehensive employee benefits package that includes paid time off benefits; health, dental and vision insurance (with 100% of premiums paid by the Foundation for the employee); and a 401(k)-retirement plan with a safe harbor contribution of 3% of the employee’s salary.
