.About the Position:Greentown is looking for a mission-driven Director of Human Resources to enhance its human resources infrastructure and strategy as the organization expands its impact over the next critical decade of climate action. In 2023, Greentown transitioned from a Public Benefit Corporation to a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, and as such we are looking for Director of Human Resources candidates who have both nonprofit and private-sector human resources experience.The Director of Human Resources will report to the Chief Financial and Administrative Officer and will play a central role in recruiting and retaining top talent as the organization expands on its more than a decade of climate impact, as well as shaping our organization’s culture and success. This role will be responsible for leading all aspects of human resources, from talent acquisition and employee engagement to compliance and workforce development. This role requires a strategic mindset, exceptional interpersonal skills, and the ability to create and implement HR strategies that align with our mission and values.The Director of Human Resources role will encompass five key elements: 1) talent acquisition, 2) employee development and engagement, 3) performance management, 4) staff activities that focus on equity, diversity, and inclusion, and 5) legal and regulatory compliance.Primary Responsibilities of the Role:Develop and execute a comprehensive HR strategy that aligns with the organization’s goals and values, ensuring that HR policies and practices support our missionEnhance and manage the full employee life cycle, covering onboarding, offboarding, training, and performance management for the full organization while keeping employee personnel files up to dateOversee the development and maintenance of our employee handbook and HR policies while ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal employment lawOversee the optimization of our human resource information system for improved efficiency and employee experience.Lead the recruitment process to identify and attract top talent for a wide range of roles within Greentown; participate in job-description development to support the success of these recruitment effortsEstablish mentorship and training programs to drive employee professional development and job-specific skill development.Develop and oversee wellness programs to support employee mental and physical health, recognizing the importance of well-being in the workplaceFoster a positive, inclusive, and collaborative workplace culture that aligns with our values of being open, respectful, appreciative, resourceful, resilient, and making work funPromote and drive initiatives to enhance diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout the organizationOversee the HR budget, ensuring efficient use of resources in recruitment, training, employee programs, and HR technologyTravel for one week per quarter will be requiredWho We’re Looking For:Mission-driven professional who is motivated by the goal of supporting early-stage entrepreneurs and solving some of the world’s biggest climate challengesA professional with a positive, creative, can-do attitude and a constant focus on strengthening effective and healthy communicationExperience as a human resources professional or equivalent role in a similar-sized or larger, fast-growing nonprofit organization with 5-7 years of experienceBachelor’s degree in human resources or other related field; master’s degree or HR certification a plusKnowledge of employment laws and regulationsStrong interpersonal skills and the ability to create and maintain solid working relationships at all levels across the organization and externallyAbility to develop and implement HR strategies that align with the organization’s mission and valuesDemonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and justiceExperience with startups in climatetech or cleantech industries is a plusProficiency using Google Workspace and Microsoft 365The salary for this position is $93,000 and is commensurate with experience up to $111,000. In addition to a competitive salary, Greentown Labs also offers a generous benefits package , including medical, dental, and vision insurance, and 401k plan, and 25 days (5 weeks) of PTO plus holidays.
