Bus Driver Sub
Position Purpose
Under the general supervision of the Director of Transportation, to ensure the safe transportation of students, staff, and others to and from school, residential neighborhoods, and field trips.
Essential Job Functions
Obey all traffic laws.Observe all mandatory safety regulations.Maintain student discipline on bus and follow the behavior management guidelines adopted by the Transportation Department.Report undisciplined/ unruly/ students to the proper authority.Keep assigned bus clean.Efficiently follows assigned schedule.Inspect bus before each operation for mechanical defects and safety concerns.In case of mechanical failure or tardiness, notify the proper authority of issue(s) in a timely manner.Picks up and discharges students only at authorized stops.Exercise responsible leadership while performing school trips.Transport only authorized students.Report all accidents and complete required reports.Abide by township policies to include guidelines listed in the Transportation Center Policy/ Procedures Manual.Report all infractions to the Director of Transportation.Assist with other duties as assigned.

Travel RequirementsTravels to and from school district buildings, to vehicle service stations, field trip locations and other destinations are required.
Pay Rate$23.58 per hour

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of all traffic laws, regulations, road signs and related information.Manual dexterity sufficient to operate the bus, conduct pre-trip inspections, and clean the bus.Visual and auditory acuity within professionally determined normal ranges, with correction if needed.Effective verbal and written communication skills.Effective organizational, problem solving, and time management skills.Ability to learn and comprehend information from procedures manuals and other materials.Ability to comprehend and follow traffic signs required.Ability to physically move through the bus.Ability to maintain composure and perform responsibilities under pressure and in cases of accidents or other emergencies.Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.Ability to comply with Federal and State DOT guidelines relating to school bus driving.Ability to maintain a clean driving record.Ability to read and write.
