Job Summary:The Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for performing a variety of specialized technical tasks in Diagnostic Ultrasound utilizing high-frequency sound waves to assist medical and professional personnel in detecting anatomical abnormalities.

Essential Job Functions:-Performs procedures according to departmental format, completing exams in allotted time.-Performs required daily clerical duties, which include the use of EPIC, Tele tracking System, computer system, patient scheduling, and other computer systems as added by the Medical Center.-Performs portable ultrasound exams.-Performs a variety of complex technical tasks in Diagnostic Ultrasound utilizing high-frequency sound waves to detect anatomical abnormalities including masses, abscesses, and stones in accordance with prescribed sonographic procedures. Assist physician with biopsy deep abdominal studies and color-flow ultrasound as required.-Determines, prepares, and set up medical supplies, instruments, and equipment.-Prepares patients for diagnostic procedures, explains procedures, measures and positions patients for each anatomical view.-Evaluate the technical quality of images. Obtains and processes images of pathogenic conditions in accordance with standard procedures or techniques.-Maintains records of ultrasound taken, archiving and de-archiving data as required. Calculates, compiles, and records data from numerical readings on patient's charts and related documents.-Calibrates, cleans, and performs routine maintenance on equipment to ensure proper functioning.-Cleans and sterilize instruments, supplies, and equipment. Stocks and replenish supplies as required.-Provides technical assistance and instruction to students, employees, and medical residents.-Lifts a minimum of 25 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 50 lbs. and stands a minimum of 6 hours a day.-Greets in/out patients when they arrive for their exam utilizing A.I.D.E.T. standards.-Responsible for scheduled shifts including holidays and weekends.-Overtime as needed to provide continual quality patients care.-On call assignments as needed per Department of Radiology policy.-Adheres to the policies of Employee ID, Standards of Behavior, Attendance, and Punctuality.-Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care that is specific to those needs (i.e., age, culture, language, hearing and /or visually impaired, etc.). This process includes communicating with the patient, parent, and/or primary caregiver(s) at their level (developmental/age, educational, literacy, etc.).-Adheres to the standards identified in the Medical Center's Organizational Competencies.

Required Skills & Experience:-Must be able to perform CPR.-Knowledge of all ultrasound equipment, their function, and operation of each control.-Understanding of equipment and computer systems as well as the procedures for equipment service.-Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and physiology.-Knowledge of safety, infection, and disaster policy and procedures, including implementation of patient care in cases of an emergency situation.-Maintains CEU Credits.

Preferred Skills & Experience:-1 year of clinical experience in ultrasound.

Required Education:-Graduate of an approved Ultrasound School.-2 years training in Allied Health/College.

Required Certifications & Licensure:-R.D.M.S. registered.-Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS).

Certifications & Licenses:2 years training in Allied Health/CollegeDiagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS)Graduate of an approved Ultrasound SchoolR.D.M.S. registered
