The Dutch Language & Localization Specialist I facilitates the translation and cultural adaptation (localization) of medical, police, firefighter, and/or nurse triage protocols from English to Dutch under the guidance of senior translation staff.Principal Responsibilities:Reads through original materials (both printed materials and specialized software) and rewrites it in Dutch, ensuring that the meaning of the source text is retained. Adapts the material to the emergency dispatch market in Dutch-speaking regions.Finds the closest equivalents for terminology and words by using specialized dictionaries, thesauruses, reference books, as well as native-speaker proficiency in Dutch. Researches technical, scientific, and legal phraseology to find the correct Dutch translation and develops expert knowledge in cultural and translation areas related to emergency dispatch.Edits and proofreads final translated versions of material. Approves final product versions.Learns and uses appropriate translation software and tools for presentation and delivery.Supports the maintenance of databases and the knowledge base of Dutch text and terminology used in the company’s products.Assists senior translation staff in customer and software support efforts, accreditation processes, and conference organization through translation and interpretation services, as necessary.Assists senior translation staff in consulting with the Company’s Dutch liaisons to discuss any unclear points and arrive at the best solution.Participates in the Dutch Cultural Committee discussions and meetings, aids in implementing and maintaining company’s standards across all products and versions.Serves as a liaison for the company’s Dutch-speaking customers under the guidance of senior translation staff and accurately relays cultural issues to the company.Supports company research, development, and marketing of Dutch initiatives, programs, and studies.Qualifications:Minimum Qualifications:One or two years of higher-education studies (e.g., Associate’s degree or equivalent) in a foreign language/linguistics or a related discipline (e.g., education, communications, computer science) or equivalent education and experience.Native fluency of the Dutch language.Advanced verbal and written skills in both English and Dutch.Competences in writing and proofreading of text.Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.Ability to work independently on multiple projects.Attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality.Ability to work well under pressure and with tight deadlines.Ability to prioritize work and deal with changing priorities.Proficiency with common office software (Office 365).Preferred Qualifications:Experience with translation software applications preferred.Translation certification(s) preferred.Essential Job Functions:Must be able to organize and coordinate information and deadlines.Must be able to analyze and interpret data.Frequent computer and telephone use.Sitting for prolonged periods of time.Concentrating for long periods of time.Occasional travel of less than 15% may be required.Physical And Other Requirements:This is a typical office job which requires the ability to sit for long periods of time at a desk with occasionally moving, standing, and walking. Requires use of arms, hands, or fingers, in handling or manipulating objects, or operating equipment, tools and/or instruments requiring fine eye-hand coordination. Occasionally requires repeated bending, crouching, stretching, or crawling, along with regularly lifting 10 – 25 pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds.Work environment is composed of moderate noise (examples: business office with computer and printers, light traffic).Independent Judgement:

This employee works under general supervision. Employee acts independently to handle standard problems but usually reports on such problems. More unusual problems are referred to a supervisor/manager.Supervisor Responsibilities:
