On behalf of a client in the engineering industry, we are seeking a cost estimator to play a crucial role on a large-scale water and sewer program. The ideal candidate will possess a firm grasp on updating capital project costs, validating costs for active projects, and preparing Work Authorization proposals. This is a full-time, on-site position located in Atlanta, Georgia.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:Conduct comprehensive reviews and updates of capital project costs, ensuring all cost data is accurate and reflective of current market conditionsPerform detailed cost validation for ongoing water and sewer projects.Identify discrepancies and provide solutions to ensure project budgets are adhered toPrepare detailed cost estimates for Work Authorization proposals, collaborating with project managers and engineers to develop accurate and competitive proposalsUtilize industry-standard estimating software and tools to develop cost estimatesAnalyze project requirements and specifications to prepare detailed and accurate cost estimatesApply in-depth knowledge of construction methodologies specific to water and sewer projectsEnsure estimates are based on sound construction practices and innovative solutionsCommunicate effectively with stakeholders, project managers, and engineers to ensure understanding and alignment on project costsStay updated with industry trends, market conditions, and cost fluctuations, integrating market intelligence into cost estimates and project planningMaintain detailed records of all estimates, revisions, and final costingsPrepare and present reports on cost estimates, variances, and project financial status
Qualifications
Requirements for this position include the following:
Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related fieldMinimum of 10 years of experience in cost estimating within the construction industry, with a focus on water and sewer projectsProficiency in industry-standard estimating software (e.g., RSMeans, Sage Estimating, HCSS HeavyBid)Extensive understanding of construction methodologies, particularly in the water and sewer sectorStrong analytical and numerical skills, with a keen eye for detailExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work collaboratively in a team environmentEmergent Method and associated entities are equal opportunity employers.
