Maine state licensure to practice as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) is required
This is a position for an LCSW that involves the evaluation of psychosocial needs of patients in the Acute Psychiatric Care Unit of the Emergency Department.
The social worker in the acute psychiatry unit must be able to quickly establish rapport with a diverse variety of patients; have excellent diagnostic skills; be able to multitask in a fast paced environment; communicate with colleagues in the ED, family and outpatient providers; utilize crisis intervention skills, and have knowledge of a broad array of community resources and systems.
Hours: evenings/weekends beginning at 4pm. Can be 10hr shifts.
Position Summary
This is a position for the professional social worker that involves the evaluation of psychosocial needs of patients/clients and their families, and provision of diagnostic/preventive and treatment services including individual, family, and group therapy. Also provides complex discharge planning, coordinates aftercare services, and makes referrals for other community services based on the treatment plan. The employee works in collaboration with other health/mental health professionals and provides consultation to the treatment team regarding patient/family social and environmental needs. Work is performed under general supervision in accordance with institutional and social work/clinical counselor policies. May supervise other social workers, students, or other staff.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)Education: Knowledge of social work theories, techniques and therapies, as used in individual, family and group treatment, as well as principles of social welfare as acquired through completion of a Master's degree in social work from an institution accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.License/Certifications:
Licensure by the Maine State Board of Social Work Licensure, LCSW.Experience:
Two or more years' work experience in a health or mental health setting preferred.Ability to communicate effectively and work collaborative with all members of the multidisciplinary healthcare team within Acute Psychiatry and Emergency Medicine
