Regulatory Accountant

Chord is looking for a Regulatory Accountant to partner with Regulatory, Land, and Revenue teams to research, prepare and file necessary regulatory accounting filings. This position will report to the Production Reporting Manager and is located in Houston, Tx. Hybrid work schedule is an option for remote work on Mondays and Fridays. Level and salary commensurate with experience.
Essential Job Functions Prepare and file all necessary regulatory reports and amendments on a timely and accurate basis including, but not limited to: Montana, Texas, and North Dakota Royalty, Severance, and Withholding Reporting Office of Natural Resources Revenue (ONRR) Escheat / Unclaimed Property 1099's
Responsible for recording revenue transactions through distribution Responsible for researching and staying current on new and proposed regulations to ensure accurate and timely regulatory filings Responsible for filing timely amendments, as required Responsible for preparing various account reconciliations Assist in audits, both internal and external, including audits conducted by regulatory agencies Maintain policies and procedures related to specific job duties Maintain SOX compliance for all related controls Interact with Regulatory Department, Land and Revenue Department to work on various initiatives Assist with special projects, as needed This job description is not intended to be an all-inclusive list of duties and responsibilities of the position. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related degree Three (3) years of Oil and gas regulatory accounting experience Strong Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel Strong State and federal regulatory filing and related research experience Ability to build strong working relationships and communicate effectively with employees of various regulatory agencies Ability to work in a fast-paced and fluid environment; flexible with the demands of a growing company; ability to meet deadlines Strong analytical and research skills and the ability to produce results under tight deadlines Team oriented individual Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer, stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions, strength to lift and carry files weighing up to 10 pounds; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.
