Tri-City Electric Co. is currently seeking a Director of Project Management for an immediate opening in the Midwest Region which includes projects in: Iowa, Illinois, and Indiana.
The Director of Project Management for Mission Critical Construction will lead and oversee the successful execution of complex projects involving critical infrastructure such as data centers, retrofit projects, and other similar projects. This role will be instrumental in coordinating project teams, managing budgets, and ensuring adherence to strict timelines and quality standards. Collaboration with stakeholders, effective risk management, and innovative problem-solving are essential to deliver projects that meet or exceed client expectations.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Project Leadership:
Provide strategic direction and leadership to project teams throughout all phases of the project lifecycle, from inception to completion. Team Management:
Oversee project executives and all levels of project management, to ensure seamless collaboration and efficient utilization of resources. Client Communication:
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, maintaining regular communication to understand their needs, address concerns, and provide updates on project progress. Budget and Schedule Management:
Assist the project management team with Developing and managing project budgets, schedules, and resource allocations to meet financial targets and project milestones. Risk Management:
Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize project delays, cost overruns, and quality issues. Contract Negotiation:
Negotiate contracts with clients, vendors, and subcontractors, ensuring favorable terms and conditions while mitigating risks. Change Management:
Ensure the project management team evaluates change requests and implements adjustments to project scope, schedule, and budget as necessary, while minimizing impact on project objectives. Performance Monitoring:
Monitor the project management team’s performance metrics, track progress against milestones, and provide regular status reports to stakeholders. Continuous Improvement:
Identify opportunities for process improvement, innovation, and efficiency gains in project delivery methodologies and best practices. Sound financial acumen Ability to problem solve and multi-task Attention to Detail Communication Proficiency (Oral and Written) Consideration and Tact Dependability and Trustworthiness Microsoft Office Suite Proficiency (emphasis on MS Excel and including MS Project) Basic Primavera P6 Proficiency Basic Understanding of Critical Path Method (CPM) Scheduling Organization and Self-Motivation Leadership and Team Building Positive Initiative and Judgment Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Construction Management, or related industry 15+ years of related experience or combination of work and experience equivalent Proven track record of successfully delivering large-scale projects. Basic knowledge of electrical construction. Familiarity with hyperscale data center construction processes and requirements is highly desirable. Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret construction performance reports, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries from project management team both verbally and in written format. Travel will be required as needed within the Midwest region. Work Hours: 7:00AM-5:00PM Monday-Friday with occasional evening and weekend work may be required. Candidates must possess strong attention to detail, focus on accuracy, solid communication skills, a strong mechanical aptitude, positive initiative and judgement, the ability to problem solve and meet deadlines and the ability to multitask with tact and consideration.
