At Pure Fishing we have high expectations for Execution, we strive to Empower our people every day, expect and encourage Authenticity.Supervisor: Sr. Director Product Development-BaitLocation: Spirit LakeFLSA: ExemptPOSITION SUMMARY:Main accountability is to drive technology and innovation into product development through research, prototyping, & testing to ensure validity, supply chain feasibility, and cost effectiveness. Also performs a variety of engineering assignments in the

design and commercialization of R&D projects . Works collaboratively to ensure new products generate appropriate return and meet growth objectives.

Partners with all R&D areas as well as Category Management and other functional areas to manage and complete the tasks required to commercialize new products and existing product improvements.POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Plans, conducts, and may “lead and direct” large, important projects. Serves as an advisor to lower-level personnel and may assist with the review and evaluation of personnel. Trains personnel in routing and specialized laboratory procedures.2. Provides technical consultation to peers and other departments, especially Manufacturing and Engineering.3. Conducts experiments to improve upon or to duplicate various materials and substances and engages in research to develop new methods of processing or production.4. Evaluates progress and results and recommends changes in procedures as appropriate.5. Possesses and applies comprehensive knowledge in the area of specialization to the completion of significant assignments, operating with considerable latitude for un-reviewed action or decision.6. Maintains expertise in materials used in our products and insures we have the capability to analyze those materials.7. Assists Manufacturing in new product implementation through procedure development, troubleshooting, etc., and assists in process changes.8. Research design, process, and material technologies that may be applicable within the outdoor product industry.9. Identifies development opportunities in new products, new processes, quality enhancements, cost reduction, product line extensions and productivity.10. Develops contacts to supply and manufacture technologies applicable to outdoor products.11. Gathers and analyzes data to aid in the implementation of solutions for problem areas in both Manufacturing and R&D areas.12. Designs and commercializes products within the documented NPD process and corporate schedule.13. Performs independent design work, including metal parts, plastics, fabrication, and mechanical assemblies.14. Suggests and selects materials, components, and Manufacturing processes to ensure product performance.15. Establishes and evaluates laboratory testing for formulas and products to ensure desired durability, strength, and function are achieved.16. Engages Manufacturing partners in the engineering/design of new products and changes to existing products.17. Assists in creating technical specifications for quality and sourcing.18. Manages technical documentation for products and projects including (but not limited to), drawings, calculations, spreadsheets, test plans, test reports, and specifications.19. Manages multiple product development projects and ensures cost, quality, and schedule are established and maintained.20. Manages multiple cross functional VAVE projects, producing detailed plans for each and monitoring progress to achieve targets.REQUIRED EXPERIENCES:A minimum of four (4) years bachelor’s degree in chemistry.A minimum of ten (10) years’ related experience with increasingly responsibilities is required.Incumbents must have achieved recognized standing in their field through original contribution.Preferred Ph.D. in the field of specialization.COMPETENCIES:

Must have knowledge and experience in polymers and molding processes, especially water based/biodegradable systems.Must be able to operate standard pieces of testing and laboratory analytical equipment and mixing/formulating equipment.Must be able to operate and render interpretation of: IR, GC, DSC, and other testing equipment.Must convey a sense of urgency to keep projects on schedule.Must have effective communication skills and demonstrate the ability to interface with all departments to coordinate projects.Must have good organizational skills and be able to balance multiple priorities.Should be adept with technology, using computers, databases, MS Excel, Word, PPT, and the internet.
