The Office for Access and Equity is seeking an ADA Coordinator (Associate Director) who will work with and report directly to the Associate Chancellor of Access and Equity. This position will serve as a subject matter expert on federal and state disability laws, including Sections 504 and 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 as amended, the Illinois Information Technology Accessibility Act (IITAA), and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), and will be responsible for leadership, development, implementation and advisement on University policies, procedures, operations, programs and training that will prepare campus units to meet and exceed their obligations under the law. Additionally, the ideal candidate should be invested in promoting a culture of accessibility, and will lead campus-wide initiatives toward universal accessibility and inclusion in the realms of facilities, policies, and digital spaces.

At minimum, the qualified candidate must hold a Master’s Degree; a Ph.D. or J.D. is preferred; and possess a minimum of three years’ of experience with program development, training and/or providing consultative services related to accessibility, diversity and inclusion and/or accommodations and advocacy for adults with disabilities, preferably in a higher education setting.. The candidate must have knowledge of knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations related to ADA, Title VII and Title IX, accessibility standards and guidelines including but not limited to, Sections 504 and 508 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 as amended. Knowledge of Illinois Information Technology Act (IITAA), Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), and Voluntary Product Accessibility Templates (VPATs) is preferred.

The successful candidate must have excellent communication skills, both oral and written, particularly the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts and solutions to both experts and non-experts, as evidenced by experience developing and conducting training to diverse audiences using a variety of methods. The candidate must also demonstrate proven leadership skills and the ability to create, implement, and evaluate large scale institutional policies and programs. The candidate should possess excellent organizational and time management skills, including the ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously; strong analytical and creative problem solving skills, experience working in and leading teams and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations in a higher education setting, as well as proficient computer skills and extensive working knowledge of Microsoft Office software

Salary commensurate with experience but in the range of $80,000 – 90,000 yearly.
