Boeing’s Advanced Design and Prototype Solutions (ADaPS) organization in Huntsville, AL is looking for an Associate Software Developer to contribute to advanced development of the PAC-3 (Patriot Advanced Capability 3) missile defense system, test equipment. The PAC-3 is designed to intercept tactical, short- and medium-range ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and air-breathing threats. It intercepts ballistic missiles in their terminal phase of flight.The software engineer will join a team developing and testing complex test equipment for the PAC-3 development and production programs. This role will have emphasis on understanding and enhancing testing of the next generation missile defense. The work entails requirement development, software development, and test development and execution.ADaPS (an organization of over 130 software engineers) supports programs across the entire portfolio of Boeing products including Space Launch Systems (SLS) Upper Stage, Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD - missile defense), Commercial Space Crew Transportation System (CST-100), and Advanced Missile Defense efforts including Patriot Advanced Capability. ADaPS specializes in implementing rapid prototyping and development programs using small, adaptable agile teams.Position Responsibilities:Contribute to development and deployment of automated test equipment for lab and factory automation, including data processing and control algorithm developmentWork in small agile teams composed of diverse engineering skills.Use your talents to take on complex problems on a variety of programs.Responsible for developing technical products, plans, documentation, and briefings supporting program requirements.Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or other technical degree2+ years of experience with software development using either Java, C++, or PythonPreferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):One or more of the following are desired:Master or Ph.D. in Biomedical/Electrical/Aerospace Engineering or Physics2+ years of experience in LabVIEW Development2+ years of experience reading electrical schematics is strongly desired2+ years of experience in instrumentation control over common busses (serial, GPIB, ethernet, etc.)2+ years of experience or, alternatively, accredited coursework with some form of sensor system which may include astronomy sensors, high energy physics sensors, electromagnetic or radar sensors, EO/IR sensors, biomedical sensors, or complex sensors used in manufacturing or analysis.Experience/coursework in optical or electromagnetic (RF - radio frequency) sensing or communication systems such as GPS, GNSS, MILSAT, Iridium, Starlink, RF, or electromagnetic astronomy.Some work experience or school projects involving complex RF communication systems like cellular technologies, backhaul systems, police/fire radio systems, or military communications.Some software projects involving developing models, simulations, or control systems.Some type of work experience or school project involving MATLAB analysis of fluid systems or RF/optical sensing systems.Some work experience or school project involving orbital mechanics or high-speed flight.
