About The Position
This is a line attorney position within the Litigation Practice Group, Civil Services Division of the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office. The focus of this position involves all areas of litigation for Maricopa County, its agencies, and employees in State and Federal Courts. The successful candidate will handle their own caseload defending a variety of cases including 42 U.S.C.
1983, state law tort claims, prosecuting environmental and zoning enforcement matters, and other matters as necessary. The successful candidate will appellate issues that may arise in their cases. The position will also call for working closely with other litigation practice groups while litigating cases and providing clients with advice on litigation strategies and assessments of liabilities.

We Require
Successful candidates must possess a Juris Doctorate (Professional) degree from an ABA-accredited law schoolThree years of experience in civil litigation with experience litigating cases in state and federal court, as well as state and federal appeals courtsValid Arizona driver’s license upon hireSuccessful candidates must be admitted to practice law and be in good standing with the State Bar of Arizona at the time of application
Note: The Maricopa County Attorney's Office requires a thorough background check of all successful candidates and is authorized to test prospective employees for the presence of illegally accessed drugs. Drug testing is conducted once an offer has been extended and before placement
