ACCOUNTING MANAGER
Reports to the Director of Finance, position is exempt

THE ROLEWe believe every individual should be proud of who they are, where they come from and take pride in who we serve. We are in search of a diverse leader for the role of Assistant Director of Finance. This position is responsible for promoting and adhering to GAAP compliance and alignment with the AHLA Uniform System of Accounts. It is crucial this role position themselves as the go-to person in the hotel for support, coaching and education on company accounting processes, procedures and practices. The Assistant Director of Finance reports to the Director of Finance, collaborates closely with other managers and the Aparium Finance team in achieving financially sound and strategic business decisions.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Reinforce the company's Art + Science ideologies to ensure the experiences of translocal hospitality, intuitive service and collaboration are implemented and modeled by yourself and every leader of the hotel
Actively participate in the interviewing, hiring, training, scheduling, coaching and motivating associates to create an environment that nurtures ideas and develops future talent for succession planning
Ensure a sense of belonging for associates by upholding the company's values and guidelines for a Respectful Workplace, diversity, equity and inclusion
Model the company's open-door policy and employee engagement practices, which makes the hotel a great place to work; demonstrate a positive work ethic and environment; consistently guide and monitor business ethics and good business practice; perform other job-related duties as requested
Lead and be responsible for the accounting and finance procedures, practices and policies for the hotel, ensuring the execution and of all accounting tasks and required deadlines are achieved
Lead the month end processing regarding accurate accounts payable and account receivables
Act as liaison to other hotel departments and assist with Finance department issues
Provide timely resolution to guest phone inquiries
Resolve all credit card disputes and charge backs in a timely manner
Count daily deposits and maintain bank service pick-ups
Supervise and perform billing and collection efforts
Evaluate credit worthiness for all potential guests and client billing
Ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll
Perform regular payroll audits while maintaining and enforcing payroll policies and procedures
Collaborate with People + Culture (Human Resources) on payroll, benefits and associate issues
Be the liaison with payroll vendor on issues and concerns
Ensure proper cash on hand while enforcing all cash policies and procedures
Reconcile vendor statements, perform weekly payables and daily invoice posting
HOW YOU LEAD
Operate in a highly analytical fashion in thought and recommendations; although never acting like the smartest person in the room; continually seeking out the facts
Demonstrate confidence to express a point of view tempered with humility to ensure it's not driven by ego
Engage others in general conversation to build rapport quickly and demonstrate an ability to adapt communication and presentation tactics to engage a wide range of audiences
Approach fact-finding and discovery missions in a collaborative effort; valuing input and experiences of others that creates additional insight to uncover deeper issues that need to be addressed or removed
Demonstrate a passion to drive results within themselves and others; influencing others to take direction and execute on the strategy
Be comfortable in being a "general" in identifying strategic needs, yet can be a "soldier" to ensure the implementation of a strategic plan is implemented
Value the importance of making decisions with integrity, maintaining confidentiality across internal workgroups and knowing how to use discretion when appropriate; understanding the difference between transparency and confidentiality.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
A minimum of (2) two years of progressive accounting and finance management experience preferred; we like to see that you have worked yourself up the ranks, so you understand the responsibilities and tasks of your team
A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Hospitality is preferred though not required if you have years of proven experience
Having a background in hotel accounting would be great so you understand the intricacies and vernacular of hotel accounting, specifically AHLA Uniform System of Accounts
Willingness to work a flexible schedule as sometimes "month-end" responsibilities and tasks need extra attention to ensure accuracy
Ability to work in a dog-friendly work environment
