St. Francis Community Services (SFCS), an agency in the Catholic Charities of St. Louis Federation, is seeking a full-time staff attorney to assist with the legal needs of clients in our Immigration law department. Each year, SFCS assists 3,500+ impoverished individuals throughout the St. Louis area.Catholic Legal Assistance Ministry (CLAM) has provided legal aid to the under resourced for more than thirty years. Annually, we serve over 1300 individuals and provide legal aid in over 1,500 cases in the areas of immigration law, veterans advocacy, family and guardianship law, housing cases and municipal court cases. Staff also offer legal aid workshops and Know Your Rights presentations to educate the community on the detrimental impact that unresolved legal issues have on families and individuals seeking to find safety, stability and community belonging.Responsibilities:Staff attorney working in the area of immigration law provides legal representation to low-income immigrants in applications and petitions for immigration benefits in Immigration Court and USCIS. This position is a full-time, salaried position with benefits supervised by the Immigration Managing Attorney at SFCS Catholic Legal Assistance Ministry. Salary determined upon experience.(Case load may include: Adjustment of Status, Appeals to the Board of Immigration Appeals, Asylum (affirmative and defensive), Consular Processing, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, Employment Authorization Documents, Naturalization and Citizenship, Refugee/Asylee Relative Petitions, Relative Petitions, Removal Proceedings, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status, Temporary Protected Status, T Visas, U Visas, VAWA, Waivers of Inadmissibility.)Qualifications:Required Education: J.D. from an accredited ABA instituteRequired Certification/Licensure: License to practice law in the United States as of start date; Missouri license within 6 months of start datePreferred experience working a minimum of two years in immigration law or other legal aid lawPreferred experience working with immigrants and/or multi-ethnic cultures and with victims of traumaPreferred fluent in Spanish and/or French and EnglishHow to Apply:To Apply, send cover letter with reference and resume with salary requirements to Les Lexow, Senior Director Human Resources at llexow@ccstl.org EOE.
