Position Summary
As a Data Analytics/Visualization Engineer II, you will play a critical role in enabling the company to be data-driven through the creation of highly-scalable production data pipelines as well as visually appealing and effective data visualizations (e.g., static reports, slice-and-dice dashboards, interactive data apps) that tell compelling stories about the current and projected health of ongoing initiatives and the overall organization. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background as well as the ability to lead small to medium sized projects from start to finish, manage stakeholder expectations, have expertise in data visualization tools and techniques, be practiced in data movement and prep, and have a strong understanding of data modeling concepts.

Essential Job Functions
Collaborate with business stakeholders at all levels to understand their data requirements and develop engaging data visualizations that provide meaningful insight
Lead small to medium sized projects from start to finish
Manage expectations of business stakeholders on an ongoing basis
Work with data scientists and engineers to integrate data visualizations into existing data pipelines and applications
Drive collaboration with other UX designers and product managers to ensure a seamless user experience for data consumers
Develop, maintain, and enhance reports, dashboards, and data apps using Power BI, HEX, Python Streamlit, and other data visualization tools to track key performance metrics
Write efficient and optimized code (using SQL and dbt) to extract and merge data from various sources and prepare it for analysis
Strong understanding of data modeling concepts
Prep and cleanse data from multiple sources and merge to a common data source
Survey the state of the relevant statistics in use and the availability of relevant data to reliably build a performance metric that will inform the decision-making process for important business initiatives
Use aesthetically pleasing data visualization techniques to effectively present complex findings in a clear and concise manner, highlighting key insights and trends
Implement exception-based functionality to alert stakeholders and refer them to the appropriate data visualization when pre-defined rule-based or statistical-based criteria are met.
Develop and implement processes to ensure data accuracy and consistency across all visualizations
Help support design and data visualization and its value within the organization
Education

Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Data Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Information Systems, or related technical fieldMaster’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
Experience
5 or more years of experience in data visualization, business intelligence, data analysis, data engineering, data science, machine learning, mathematics, statistics, and/or software engineering3 or more years experience independently leading small to medium sized projects; including managing stakeholder expectations5 or more years experience in writing SQL and Python including performance tuning5 or more years experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, HEX, R Shiny, Streamlit)Strong understanding data modeling conceptsExperience with building data pipelines (eg. dbt)Preferred: Experience in P&C insurance or broader financial services industry
Knowledge And Skills
