Must be at least 21 years of age at contract timeMust meet all state licensing requirementsDemonstrates aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilitiesMust maintain a valid Class B license with both passenger and student endorsementSuccessfully completes DOT physical annuallySuccessfully pass initial and random drug screeningMust submit and pass background checkREPORTS TO: Director of Transportation
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Knowledge and utilization of State Laws for School Bus DriversKnowledge of Commercial Drivers Licensing laws and regulationsKnowledge of and utilizes positive, constructive student control techniquesCompletes all reports (pre-trip inspection, mileage, student count, discipline, accident and others as needed)Properly performs and records daily pre-trip inspection of bus and vehicular damageKnowledgeable of and reports mechanical problems immediatelyMaintains interior cleanliness of bus by sweeping and or mopping dailyKnowledge of all emergency procedures including two school bus evacuation drills yearlyKnowledgeable of District discipline procedure and appropriate and acceptable behavior for ridersMaintains control of students through positive student management techniquesProvides appropriate information for student referral and/or discipline problemsUtilizes safety knowledge to maintain utmost care of studentsFollows route directions and informs supervisor of changes immediatelyAllows students to load and unload at authorized stopsWears seat belt whenever bus is in motionPresent on the bus whenever there are students in the vehicleProvides positive input during safety meetingProvides a positive image for students through proper attire, language and health habitsMaintains composure under stressful situationsAttends assigned safety meetings and/or workshopsReports all accidents and/or near accidents to supervisorResponsible to see that bus is fueledReports potentially hazardous situationsWillingness to work with supervisor and driversMust be of good moral characterMust report all major misconduct of children under their supervisionShall report any accident or injury to pupils while in their careUse of cell phone as outlined by school policyProper use of time clock system District has in placeMaintain confidential nature of all school-related mattersOther duties assigned by the Superintendent or designeeEMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year to be established by the School BoardEVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of support staff personnel. Bus drivers may be suspended from duty at any time by the Superintendent or designee for inefficiency, breach of rules, insubordination, or other good cause. Final dismissal from service to be made at the discretion of the Board of Education.
