Mortenson is currently seeking an experienced

Senior Design Phase Manager I/Preconstruction

in the Solar Group with the ability to interact with a variety of staff at all levels in an ever-changing environment, remaining flexible, resourceful, proactive, and efficient with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. Aptitude to anticipate problems, critical issues, and opportunities as they arise; along with the capability to creatively problem solve and bring together viable solutions. Excellent written and verbal communications skills are vital, with attention to detail equally important. The Design Phase Manager will ensure the owner's vision is translated into design solutions and construction parameters through leadership of the design process and team members. May work on two projects simultaneously or one larger project.

Responsibilities:

Overall project leadership during the design phase as it relates to customer experience, financial performance, schedule, estimating, design, and planning which will result in a smooth transition to construction operations.

Lead the project team in achieving scope and budget alignment, schedule alignment, an integrated team experience, construction readiness, and excellent financial performanceEstablish and manage project budget and scope expectations, budget trending logs and associated communications and resourcesCreate and manage project schedules and key milestones, hold team members accountable for reaching set milestonesEnsure regulatory approvals and permits are obtainedEnsure proper alignment of design documents and project execution planResponsible for bid packages and contract manualsProvide advanced resolution to technical design and specification concernsDevelop or review project margin plans, and develop strategies to minimize risk and enhance opportunityAct as primary point of contact with owners, architects, engineers, and trade partners during the design phase and lead the overall project teamEstablish, monitor and measure against project success factors for customers, design partners, and Mortenson teamResponsible for establishing an integrated team experience by ensuring role clarity, proper communication, and facilitating a culture that fosters collaborationFacilitate the solicitation, selection, and contracting with designers for design build projectsManage, mentor, and guide design phase team members to ensure clear direction and career growthDevelop and/or lead the preparation and presentation of project proposalsEffectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levelsLead team members by example, offer effective coaching and feedback, and effectively manage performanceAll other duties as assignedQualifications:

Minimum of 10 years relevant experienceUtility solar experience preferredRisk management skillsMicrosoft Office, project and pertinent web application skills at an intermediate levelActive listening skills and effective communication including an openness to diverse input and feedbackStrong teamwork orientation, initiative, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skillsDetail orientation sufficient to organize and manage multiple project tasksBasic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practicesAbility to interpret and communicate Mortenson policiesAbility to travel up to 50%Valid driver's licenseEducation:

Bachelor's degree in Construction Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Estimating, or equivalent field
