Administers intravenous, inhalation, and regional anesthetics to render persons insensible to pain during surgical procedures, obstetrical deliveries, or other medical and dental procedures. Potentially administers anesthesia to all ages and A.S.A. classes of patients, including geriatrics and pediatrics. Provides airway management services as needed throughout the hospital.
no night shifts but a mix of 8, 10, and 12 hr shifts. Limited weekend needs.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:People1. Provides leadership in the professional practice setting.2. Supports and contributes to the professional development of peers and colleagues.3. Delegates tasks to assistive personnel in a respectful professional manner.4. Identify patient problem and collaborates with the Anesthesia / Surgeon /Perioperative team in the selection of appropriate interventions (tasks).5. Interacts with members of the health care team to plan and coordinate theperioperative care.6. Promotes a healthy work environment through promotion of professionalcommunication standards, commitment to co-workers, and positive problemresolution.Service1. Conducts appropriate pre-anesthetic assessments, and document findings.2. In collaboration with the anesthesiologist, determines the appropriate anesthetic planof management, manages all aspects of anesthesia care to include preoperative,perioperative, and immediate postoperative care.3. Maintains complete and accurate documentation of care for all procedures.4. Provides airway management and/or intubations for emergent, non-emergent, andresuscitation situations throughout the hospital.5. Anticipates and exceeds patients and customers' expectations that meet allelements of the Henry Ford Experience.6. Identifies services and care improvement ideas and act on them to create excellentcustomer experiences.7. Demonstrates, supports, and assumes personal accountability for consistentlyupholding team members to the standards across the System and adhering to HenryFord Health policies and procedures.8. Recognizes the unique contribution all health care team members contribute to thepatient experience.9. Performs other related duties as assigned.Quality and Safety1. Independently uses and documents the nursing process to plan, deliver, andevaluate goal focused, individualized, safe, age specific care for all patientsincluding those with complex pathophysiological needs and/or psychosocial needs.2. Seeks to understand and incorporate both safe practices and evidence-basedpractices into daily nursing care.3. Maintains compliance with regulatory standards regarding practice, environment,and documentation.1. Directs and delegates nursing care based on patient acuity and staff competencythat is consistent with the nurse's obligation to provide optimum patient care.2. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:•Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.•Graduation from an accredited school of anesthesia.•Master's degree required.•Ability to work harmoniously in collaborative situations with anesthesiologists andother health care providers.CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:Required and maintains currency of:•Clinical Privileges•State of Michigan RN License•State Specialty Certification•CRNA Certification•ALS Certification•BLS Certification Must meet or exceed core customer service responsibilities, standards and behaviors asoutlined in the Henry Ford Health Customer Service Policy and summarized below:•Communication •Ownership•Understanding •Motivation•Sensitivity •Excellence•Teamwork •RespectMust practice the customer skills as provided through on-going training and in-services.Must possess the following personal qualities:•Be self-directed•Be flexible and committed to the team concept•Demonstrate teamwork, initiative, and willingness to learn•Be open to new learning experiences•Accepts and respects diversity without judgment•Demonstrates customer service valuesPHYSICAL DEMANS/WORKING CONDITIONS:Frequent walking, bending, lifting may be required to perform duties. Working conditions are variable withexposure to communicable diseases and other hazards. Driving may be required,dependent on specialty.
