West Virginia University Department of Emergency Medicine

seeks a Pediatric Emergency Medicine Physician to join our faculty in our newly opened Childrens Emergency Department in Morgantown, WV.

The successful candidate will be appointed to the appropriate rank in the Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine, within the Department of Emergency Medicine, at the West Virginia University School of Medicine. Duties of the job include clinical shifts in the children's emergency department, didactic and bedside education of residents and medical students, and research in the field of pediatric emergency medicine. The candidate will join the Department of Emergency Medicine composed of a three-year residency program, three fellowship programs, and divisions of education, emergency medical services, pediatric emergency medicine, research, sports medicine, and ultrasound.

Qualifications: Candidate must have an MD or DO degree and be eligible for state medical license. Successful candidate must have completed a fellowship in pediatric emergency medicine or combined emergency medicine/pediatrics residency. Candidates must be board certified/eligible in pediatric emergency medicine or emergency medicine and pediatrics. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.

Our new 150 bed Children's Hospital has a 24/7 emergency department, full suite of pediatric operating rooms, cardiac catheterization lab/interventional radiology, and GI-endoscopy with dedicated pediatric anesthesia staff. WVU Medicine Children's is a Level 2 Pediatric Trauma Center, with plans to become Level 1, as it is for adults currently. There is also a Birthing Center including a 30-bed obstetrical unit and maternal-fetal medicine clinic. J. W. Ruby Memorial Hospital is the only hospital in West Virginia with a pediatric cardiac surgery program, the only epilepsy monitoring unit in the state equipped to serve children, and the only hospital in the state to receive Magnet status for nursing excellence.
