Clinical Requirements

Develops an acceptable practice agreement in collaborating with the Chief Medical Officer.

Submits proof of the practice agreement with an appropriate physician, licensed to practice in New

York State, to the State Education Department within 90 days of employment.

Utilizes the American Psychiatric Association's Scope of Practice guidelines for providing

comprehensive care.

Maintains appropriate credentials to practice at Trillium Health Patients

Prescribe, direct or administer psychotherapeutic treatments or medications to treat mental,

emotional or behavioral disorders.

Treat patients using psychological therapies.

Prescribe treatments or therapies.

Prescribe medications.

Collaborate with physicians, psychologists, social workers, psychiatric nurses, or other

professionals to discuss treatment plans and progress.

Collaborate with healthcare professionals to plan or provide treatment.

Analyze and evaluate patient data or test findings to diagnose nature or extent of mental disorder.

Analyze test data or images to inform diagnosis or treatment.

Examine or conduct laboratory or diagnostic tests on patients to provide information on general

physical condition or mental disorder

Maintains accurate and confidential historical patient records by consistently using electronic

medical record systems.

Education - provides health teaching to patients and families, participates in development and

delivery of educational programs for area health care providers.

Promotes staff learning

by providing training and discussions regarding the interrelationship between psychosocial and physiological problems, psychotropic medications, crisis

intervention, and related issues.

Case Management - Works

with families, support structure, and community resources to provide patient support.

Supervises clinical interventions provided by case management, behavioral health and nursing staff as appropriate. Collaborates with interdisciplinary team.

Miscellaneous

Requires the ability to

relate to people of diverse backgrounds, cultures, races, sexual orientations

and gender identities or expressions.

Responsible for maintaining confidentiality of all patient, clients, proprietary, and protected

information.

Employees are accountable for meeting performance standards of their departments. They participate in compliance audits and quality improvement plans.

Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited LCME or osteopathic medical program.

Completion of residency in psychiatry. Must be board eligible or board

certification by the American Psychiatric Association. Current licensure in New York State as a

Psychiatrist is required. Subspecialty

training and/or certification in addiction psychiatry or HIV psychiatry is

preferred.

Experience working in community-based health care settings is also

preferred. An understanding of EMRs is helpful. The ability to demonstrate

teamwork and effective interpersonal relations skills is imperative. Excellent

written/oral communication and computer skills are required.
